Until finishing Ano Natsu, I had thought the OBVIOUS similarities between the two were nothing more than examples of the anime industry's lack of originality. But it turns out they were written by the same person, with Ano Natsu linking into Onegai Teacher at the very end. So, it wasn't theft: it was just the writer being lazy. Glad that's clear, now.
Two alien Mary Sues come from space. They have the same basic character designs. One becomes a teacher; one becomes a student. They fall in love with scrawny, four-eyed midgets. There's drama.
Same producer, same style, same atmosphere. Both stories are about an alien girl (with red hair) come to earth and meet the Hero. Both stories are happened in a school at remote area. Both Hero are wearing glasses and are students. Both Heroine are older than the Heros. Both have a girl likes the Hero. Yukari is acting very similar characters in both animes.
First episode of Ano Natsu - is it Onegai Teacher's remake?
Looks like author is the same also
story feels very similar and even the opening gives same feeling
Oh come on, how similar can you get with these two? Good looking aliens? Check. Guy romantically involved with said alien? Check. School setting? Check. The main difference I can point out is the storyline. Onegai Teacher tipped more on the drama scale. AnoNatsu has better art style and animation though. Anyway, both were entertaining to watch.
Aside from the having the same writer, Yousuke Kuroda, the overall tone of the series follows the same structure as Onegai Teacher.
1) A lot of inner monologues between the two main characters' and exploring their emotions with each other. The viewers are shown all the worries and thoughts of the characters. As if they were living in the character's shoes.
2) Easy to understand conflicts. A lot of explanations with dialogues, monologues, and clearly structured scenes to reassure all aspects of the viewer's thoughts.
The story is practically the same, only with characters with different names, but if they liked the romantic theme of the boy who falls in love with the beautiful alien woman and the existence of a strong love triangle, then I think this series should of interest.
A beautiful story of love, friendship, comedy and drama.
-Both have the same genres
-Both have Hero & Heroine wearing glasses
-Similar Character & Artworks
-Both have something to with girl from another planet
-Both give the same feeling/atmosphere
Ano Natsu de Matteru and Onegai Teacher are romance anime that have a very similar storyline where the main male protagonists fall in love with an alien girl from outer space. Both series feature amazing animation and character design. The conflicts that carry the story are pretty much the same and many of the characters bear a strong resemblance, in terms of design and personality. It's safe to say that, if you enjoyed watching Ano Natsu de Matteru, you will most likely enjoy Onegai Teacher, and vice versa.
It's the pseudo-remake of Onegai Teacher. Rejoice.
-They're both straight romances.
-They both showcase a high school boy as the protagonist.
-The heroines are both older (senpai in Ano Natsu and sensei in Onegai) then the protagonist.
-The female leads are both red-haired bespectacled aliens with cute companions (Rinon and Marie).
-The cast in general feel similar.
-They eventually live together.
-They occur in a rural setting.
-They both showcase a love triangle with the protagonist's close female friend.
-They have the same writer.
-The story also feels similar.
-The art feels similar.
-Even the sound feel similar.
-Most importantly, They're both interesting.
As alot of people have already pointed out, this anime is very similar to onegai teacher. (same writer/producer) However, i'd like to extrapolate from that and go as far as to say that the two animes occur in the same universe.
Firstly, lets compare Ichigo (strawberry) vs. Remon (lemon). Looks very similar and have the same VA. They've implied in the last couple of episodes that Remon had standstills. She mentions about being "eternally 17" and how Tetsurou teases Remon for "still being in highschool". In addition, her personality is almost one in the same as ichigo. Also Remon reiterates the words ichigo spoke, "Don't stop. Stay in motion. Go forward."
Lake and the trees. Seems like a reoccurring theme. Nagano lake was where onegai teacher took place, hinting at the same location.
Ichika Takatsuki is in fact Kei x Mizhuo's daughter???
Mizuho is known to have been half human and half alien. The implication is such that it is acceptable in her society to bring back humans to live together.
Lastly Kei was 155cm and Mizuho was 170cm
assuming basic mandelian genetics (which height is pretty well approximated to be)
155+170 / 2 = 162.5.
Ichika is 163cm. Coincidence? Well you can say so is everything else.
Kei has red eyes, Mizuho has purple eyes and Ichika has blue eyes.
Both story revolve around a "normal" high school kid and his life along with his friend, where suddenly an alien girl/lady pops in.
Even the personalities of the characters are kinda similar.
Both have a red headed main female character and both females have a similar objective or desire involving earth plus both females come from space
Alot of similarities in both series over all if u like 1 you will definitely like the other!
-Both have a relationship with a girl not from earth
- Both good comedy/romance
Both Series is about alien girls (Both have red hair and glasses) come to earth and fall in love with a human boy (both have glasses). Both series have more than one love triangle going on and spuriously the main setting is at school (Like any other high school harem) Both series also sharing the same genres such as Comedy, Romance, Sci-Fi, Ecchi & Drama.
The only differance between Please Teacher and Ano Natsu de matteru is that the alien became a teacher at the school (Please Teacher) instead of a Grade 12 student.
Never seen two series that's so much alike with each other so if like either show then i'm about 99% sure that you'll enjoy the other one.
Alien crashes into both towns
The alien moves in with kid
Both romance/comedies
Both have aliens try to break them up
Onegai teacher feels like the predecessor to Ano Natsu
Is the same thing!! really, sometimes i think..is kei kusanagi and mizuho-sensei in cosplay?? :S
The story is very very very similar, the personalities of characters, etc
Ano natsu de matteru has better animation.
-Both have an alien that comes to earth
-In Both the main character finds out and has to keep it a secret
-In both the guy falls for the girl (in Onegai Teacher The girl also falls for the boy right away)
-Both have another girl that likes him and he has to chose between the two
-They both have the same concept
-Both are extremly Fantastic anime that made me wont to meet an alien :)
So If you've loved Ano Natsu de Matteru You'll love Onegai Teacher

-Both give the same feeling/atmosphere
-Both have something to do with the theme "Summer"
-Similar art
-Both are interesting
Similiar atmosphere

Beautiful art
similar chara design
have the same feel
both have summer theme
• Similar art style
• Both are original anime productions
• Both give the same feeling
• Both have "romance"
Group of friends developing emotions to each other/same director
Anohana and Ano Natsu de Matteru are both emotional anime that have a nearly identical mode of story telling and main male protagonists trying to fulfill the wish of a girl that may eventually disappear from their lives. They also have really similar characters - a socially awkward male, a paranormal girl and their friends in between who are in a pinch regarding their love lives. Both series offer superb animation and feature a lot of touching moments that will most likely make you let out tears and leave you with a happy smile in the end. If you liked watching one of them you shouldn't hesitate to try out the other.
Both anime focus on a group of friends. Both have a romance between the main male character and the main female character. The main female character in both anime are not really human. Both have a love triangle-type thing among the group of friends. Both have the same kind of feeling to them.
Both involve a group of friends that suffer from unrequited love. The atmosphere also feels similar.
- the character design
- the vibe of love pentagon
- the feelings
- the storytelling style
- same director
the atmosphere is really similar and both heads towards a friendship setting
Both series has a lighthearted sort of feeling involving romance and drama. The protagonist seems to be the center of it all as he tries to fulfill the wishes of the heroine.
The main characters are rather similar s well. The protagonist is somewhat cynical and the heroine is strange.
Additionally, the director worked on both of these series hence the dramatic story. And as for the stories, both series are build from friendship, trials, misunderstandings, and bonds.
* Same director
* Nice drama plot
* Both stories have summer theme (most of the time)
* Love conflicts
* Good ending
Friendship and Love. Both have a tragic emotional feel
Both deal with a lot of drama and also have similar style.... That's because both anime were made by the same people!!
both are from the same anime company/producer which = same character designs, atmosphere, art style
both anime focus on fullfilling a wish of an important person to the boy protagonist, which they know they will eventually dissappear
both contain romances/love triangles/hardships of loss
both have a familiar story throughout the anime which both of the anime ends in sadness
both are really pleasant to watch, so if you watch one, you must watch the other.
Both of them has sad endings where both loved character by the protagonist were gone and probably won't see each other again.
Both anime also has mix love
Ano Natsu de Matteru:
Ichika
Ano Hana:
Chiriko>Atsumu>Meiko
-both romance slice of life genre
-both have tear jerking moments
-both have love triangles...more than that rather
-both heroine is going away..something like that..
a few similarities:
- same director
- same artist
- the lead female protagonists in both series have the same voice actor
- summer theme
- both revolve around relationships

Both shows feature a group of highschool students with romantic feelings for each other yet refusing to tell the respective other. The drawing and animation style of both Toradora and Ano Natsu are very similar, so the atmosphere in both shows feels alike. Although Ano Natsu features fantastic elements, both shows' focus lies on romantic comedy and drama elements.
Both feature a very similar artistic design and narrative style, not coincidentally under the same director. Toradora and Ano Natsu de Matteru bring together a high school boy and girl into an unexpected romantic situation.
Both deal with high school kids falling in love with one another, and these crushes intertwine. Both are heart-wrenching romances and they will twist your feelings. You will feel happy, go "awww" because of cuteness or go "awwww" cause of sadness. Very beautiful anime. Both are also by JC Staff, the art style is also very similar.
*Love polygon - checked
*Heroine and protagonist living under one roof - checked
*Comedy+drama+slice of life - checked
*Quite the same final - checked
I have this feeling while watching this anime that it has the same atmosphere on Toradora. On How the ending song came..and How the ending came.
• Similar art style
• Character similarities
• Both are with a group of friends who have crushes, and romance with one another.
• Give the same feeling when, watching them.
Toradora and Ano Natsu share the same incredible artwork.
Same studio and both involve love triangles (more like love squares or pentagons, really!). Both have a great mix of comedy and drama as well.
They both have this very similar feeling to them even though its alot like anohana, i do think there that toradora feel to it aswell.
They are both from J.C Staff, they both have the same art style, they both have a short girl with blondish hair and whenever she smiles, i instantly get reminded of Taiga from Toradora. If you enjoyed Toradora I'm sure you will also enjoy this, but Toradora is better.
I'm actually surprised how much these two series had in similarities compared to one another after watching both. Yes, these two series are quite similar in a good way.
Both series details a normal main protagonist who meets a strange girl in the beginning. They endure many factors but eventually fall in love.
Both series are lighthearted and also has various love triangles involving other characters as the episodes progresses. In fact, the other characters have their own issues that are presented throughout the series that can be seen as realistic and common in real life/relationships.
Both series has comedy, drama, romance, and also emotions. Needless to say, both series presents a romantic comedy that is a bit unique that is entertaining.
Same director, EXTREMELY simliar feel to it. The romance is sweet and impacts you emotionally. Similar vibrant art style. Both beautifully well made.

Aliens, comedy and bright colors. A slow paced story that is also a story about growing up. What more could you ask for?
A boy's normal life is suddenly interrupted by a spontaneous alien person. Both have bright colors and a likable cast of teenagers having fun over summer.
The vivid colors and adventures is what made me think of both Tsuritama and Ano Natsu de Matteru.
In both anime, the alien comes to earth for an unknown reason(which is pretty much revealed a few episodes before it ends), both aliens go to school and start living with the human they became interested in.
Both animes are really amazing, and are both during the summer season. Though Tsuritama is about making friends and fishing, Ano Natsu de Matteru is not that different.
Tsuritama is concentrated on sci-fi/shonen/comedy/drama/slice of life while Ano Natsu de Matteru is more of a sci-fi/romance/comedy/drama/slice of life.

Both set in high school and are both are comedies with romance also with a lot of sexual humor. You'll see similar relationships between characters in both shows though one deals with aliens and has a slice of life feel.
Heroine jumps out of nowhere
Heroine is weird
Multiple love stories
There's actually progress in the love story
Made by JC Staff
(Both are in my top 10 list)
Both shows are about high school romance com revolving around a group of friends. In both series the characters are trying to accomplish something (in case of Ano Natsu de Matteru a movie and in case of Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo a game or at least in the first half of the series). Obviously there is romance, drama, comedy and some love polygons going on. If you watched one and liked it, the other one is not that much different, so odds are, you could like it.

someone from space land on earth
female protagonist fell in love with the male protagonist
Similarities:
-Alien female protagonist
-Ordinary male protagonist
-Some romance elements - Specifically, love triangles
-Both alien female protagonists initially try to hide their identity as aliens
-Some comedic elements
Differences:
-To Love ru has A LOT more fan service
-Ano Natsu is more serious and focused on the romance element
-To Love ru has a more harem-based approach, whereas Ano Natsu focuses on love triangles/squares/pentagons/etc.
-Ano Natsu has more of a progression in plot than To Love ru. To love ru's plot is relatively unconnected - if you skip a few episodes, you haven't really missed out on any plot.
Both are about a alien girl who comes to earth and falls for a average guy and both have forces trying to bring the girl home and both have the guy fighting for her and both are Harrems(Ano natsu is not as much of a harem as To love-ru).Ano natsu de Matteru is more of a drama/slice of life and can be somewhat slow at times where To love-ru is a ecchi/comedy which can be overwhelming at times but overall both are enjoyable.

Both Sankarea and Ano Natsu de Matteru are romance genre. The male protagonists falls in love with a girl that isn't human, and many things occurred to try to stop the male and female protagonists together. However, they still try their best to stay together.
This two are very similar in its way of presenting a tasteful romantic comedy. Both shows deal with the main character having romantic feelings for a supernatural being. Also, they similar in the sense that both shows also deal with a love-triangle along with their childhood friends.

|
- Drama
- Summer
- Bishoujo
- Hints of otherworldliness
same atmosphere: summer
and i think ano natsu de matteru will have sad ending, but when i see onegai teacher, and the author said "i hate sad ending" so i dont know about the ending XD
Both is interesting and good
|
|
|
A human protagonist, an un-human girl, the childhood friend and the side characters to make everything going. It has that whole summer rural feel too
-Both anime have a touch of supernatural events that happen over their summer.
-Both are of school life/slice-of-life.
|
|
|
this anime has same style) probably it willl be crossover)
it looks like ichika is a daughter of mizuho from onegai teacher? bsides alien look alike)
Both series contain a similar theme and feeling.
Both the protagonist present in the series are involved in a love triangle that has mishaps, trials, but also with joy and memories.
Both series are set in a similar setting filled with drama, romance, and emotions.

Both Anime involve aliens and both anime deal with friendships and growing closer to each other. Both anime are also mellow slice of life.
space/slice of life / drama ..
the characters are very similar you have
Mio/Erio , Kanna/Ryuuko , Maekawa/Remon etc ..

Aliens, cute heroine, good storytelling. Similar warm fuzzys.
You just have to compare the first episodes to see how they are similar. The anime follow the story of a boy who is accidentally injured by a girl from another world and tries to make amends while hiding behind an human identity. The main character lives alone with a sister who has to leave for indefinite amounts of time. The girls both have companions which act as their support in the new environment they are on. They also share a similar art style, which is reminiscent of Ano Hanna. At its best this anime is a great combination of themes shared in Birdy Decode with the setting feel and undertones of Ano Hanna.
|
|
|
A boys' summer is about dealing with aliens from another planet. One boy meets and falls in love with an alien while the other falls in love with a girl who fights aliens.
In the middle of summer, a high school boy without any particular traits meets a girl who arrived from outer space.
|
|
|
aliens, making a bad movie, having fun in the summer, comedy, love, life....
|
|
|
Both series belong to the categories that are defined as romantic comedy but also contains sci fi themes.
In both series, the main protagonist meets an strange being and bonds with them. As the series progresses, the main protagonist and the girl begins to develop feelings towards one another.
Both series contain drama, comedy, action, and of course romance later on. And with drama of course brings forth love triangles, misunderstandings, and even wild chases later on.
|
|
|
Both stories are about an alien girl come to earth and accidentally killed the Hero. Both Heroine are taller and older than the Hero.
|
|
|
Comedy, romance, drama, and stage acting/movie filming what else could you ask for more? Both of these series are great for anime fans who enjoy a slow paced yet meaningful story. Ano Natsu does has a sci-fi side that Tsuyokiss lacks. However, both series are little gems that any anime fan should add to their collection.
|
|
|
- Both have love triangles
- Both have one girl left heart broken
- Both of the main male characters have great hobby's e.g: manga artist and film maker
- Both have the same line of story from the beginning of the anime.
- Both start of meeting the girl by accident.
|
|
|
Both have a group of friends having fun together. Hyouka focuses more on mystery, humor and slight romance while Ano Natsu de Matteru focuses on a story between a few friends and their unforgettable summer!
Both are very nice and relaxing as well as very intriguing.
|
|
|
Both are romance/school involving multiple love triangles. Also both about shooting a movie for a film club.
|
|
|
Both have very warm vibe to them. :3
|
|
|
Has some weird but normal alien mixed into the plot
|
|
|
Actually there is not much to say.
There might actually be different stories, but the round' bout is the same.
A few hot Chics, a lot of ecchi & a lot of comedy. :)
Both are awesome. Try them :)
|
|
|
Both anime have this kind of carefree and fun slice of life feeling; except Ano Natsu focuses most on a romance, while Railgun is more about comedy, then action.
|
|
|
The female characters are aliens who come from space and end up falling in love in Earth. Ano Natsu de Matteru is more of a drama but also has the nice romantic comedy touch making it enjoyable for those who like Narue no Sekai
|
|
|
both have the MIB moment (Men in Black)
|
|
|
Soft tales about first loves and the feelings that go along with that.
|
|
|
-Supernatural things and unexpected events happens in their summer
-School life/slice of life anime
|
|
|
Just as I recommend Onegai Teacher to you, this is also had the same atmosphere of both romance and drama.
|
|
|
both have aliens that come to the earth.
gintama has action and ano natsu have romance
but both have comedy, gintama has more comedy
|
|
|
Shingu is about an alien invasion in 2070 while Ano Natsu de Matteru is more about a alien secretly hiding her identity both shows contain a lot of plot twist between characters maybe more in shingu than Ano Natsu de Matteru however Shingu doesn't have much romance but it does have some. They all both contain narration from the lead male characters who are both nerdy though one has feelings for someone the other is more a romantic focus and is obvious to the feelings someone has for him.
|
|
|
Drama between friends and similar "summery" feel!
|
|
