Both deal with the relationship between nature and humans. The OSTs are wonderful. The scenes of fight are very well done (even if Gin'iro no Kami no Agito is futuriste and Mononoke happens in the past).

They have nicely similar story lines... "man devastates the earth and the forest comes back with a vengeance." They both have good dramatic action. I personally liked Nausicaa more but the main character in that was a girl so i relate better with her than the male main character in Agito. Still Agito was a great movie with better art and graphics than the older Nausicaa. It was definitely one of the better movies i have seen lately. So if you enjoyed either of these movies, be sure to check out the other.

Both have a female lead who goes where they are told not to. Both start off with having to wear special suits. If you watch both you will see what I mean.

There are similar themes of nature taking over, although for different causes and reasons. The main characters in both films also strike a few similarities: one being that they suddenly find themselves involved in a situation seemingly beyond their control and that they both have someone very close to them, someone they would go to the ends of the earth for.

Both animes begin with a human from the past that has been put into a cryogenic capsule and awakens into a distant post-apocalyptic future. Both main characters have a destiny to help the present world. Origin is more about the conflict between an failed experiment that made the nature go out of control and technology, whereas in Blue Gender the conflict is not internal, but external, the humans fighting against aliens.

Both are about a world where man must fight against the sentient Earth and plant-life for survival. Both spend most focus in the wilds and a medieval-like setting, but occasionally break away to show brief moments of highly futuristic technology as well. And finally, both feature a main character with a mop of hair as white as the snow.

Similar main characters and forced separation because of a higher conspiracy.

Basically they seem to be a huge wake-up call for environmental pollution, although their approach is different.

i really enjoy the nature theme of these movies. they all have engaging stories and dynamic characters. these movies great sub-genre all their own.

Origin and Spriggan are about saving the world from huge mountains (or something that looks like a mountain). The main characters are also very similar: they have strong personalities and a great aim. If you like watching good guys save the world, you will enjoy watching these.

Drastic event changes the world as we know it - in this case it's killer plants - and years later the story follows someone who's fate is to undo what evil has been done. Both have action packed moments, moments of touchy-feely love, and monsters (because who doesn't like those).

In both, there is a boy and girl, one more close to nature than the other. In both, the world is in crisis. In both, there is an evil empire that want to monopolize all, with strange machinery. In a sense, the vibe is really similar here, and there is a sense of discovery. And ofc, good music. Should really check this one if you liked Agito :)

You see many common areas between Miyori no Mori and Gin'iro no Kami no Agito - especially the theme of protecting the environment one is living in. There is a lead character with a 'sacred' duty to safeguard what is important.

They're both Sci-Fi movies set post-apocalypse. They both have a kind of Man vs. Nature conflict. While Blue Submarine has fish-people, Origins has plant-people.

These both involve similar themes of a world where plants attack humans, and people with special powers connected to the plants, are used to fight them off. It also includes a main character dynamic between a girl and a warrior-type guy. There are many similarities, and I'm surprised no one has recommended this yet.

Two lesser-known films that both have a lot in common, including: -occur in a fantasy world where water is scarce -idea of trees being the source of life -themes of humans vs nature & environmentalism -villains who are far more technologically advanced than the protagonists -boy and girl from two different worlds who are romantically attracted to one another -lots of CGI (in the case of Ooyukiumi no Kaina the whole series in animated this way) -the Japanese title includes the name of the male protagonists The main difference is that "Giniro no Kami no Agito" is a standalone film, while "Ooyukiumi no Kaina: Hoshi no Kenja" is a continuation of  read more

Was reminded of Origin: Spirits of the Past while watching EDEN. Girl awakens from cryo-sleep, fated to heal the world and amend the relationships have with nature. Somewhat similar post dystopian world, technology/nature taking over human settlements. Both involve a lot of mecha/tech/military and battles. A lot of lore regarding the past of the world and how it became "dystopian" and how humans are involved in its destruction and the forces that seek to destroy humans to protect nature itself. Both vaguely bring about the same feeling and mood, but follow very distinct storylines. I'd recommend watching these based on the type of worldbuilding and lore  read more

Both deal about nature and about how humans life with it. Both have a strong girl that faces a similar destiny.

Though it sounds strange, Origin would have been like the original Attack on Titan if it was an anime series. It follows a world ruined by a mistake made by humanity regarding genetics. Some humans share the power with the aggressive force (titan shifters in AoT, enhanced humans in Origin). Humanity has been reduced to a small number and some people are fighting against the force while others are not. Both Origin and Attack on Titan centre on a determined protagonist who wishes to make a change.

Origin: Spirits of the Past and Suisei no Gargantia have a similar allure about their plots, after all both stories begin with the main characters getting thrown into a brand new world, where they must re-learn how to do daily activities with the help of primitive equipment. If you enjoy stories where the characters stumble along as they gather new experiences in a fresh world, you'll enjoy both of these series!

"Dreamily Beautiful..." Guardian. "Origin is almost painfully beautful" SciFi.com. While offering little in common in terms of theme, plot and structure both films are visually stunning.

I'm surprised no one's made this recommendation yet, honestly. The stories in the two series are somewhat similar, a post-apocalyptic future where with a lot of desert environment. Except in Origin it was a man made disaster, and in Green Legend Ran it had to do with aliens descending onto the planet. There's a lot of similarities, like with nature being aggressive and fighting back, sometimes through the bodies of hosts, people with silver hair being special, and of course that a normal kid finds a girl who's on a journey.

Well, both started with the boy finding the girl and then the bad guys comes after the girl for her connection with (her father in Giniro no Kami, her grandfather in Conan). Then the boy goes on a journey to save the girl. They also share how that the world was once destroyed because of technology and they now live a harsh life with nature, but there are still people who want to recover the old past. I thought they are very similar. I prefer Future Boy Conan Over Giniro no Kami.

Both movies try to reproduce the Ghibli feeling. Character design-wise, fantasy setting and more. If you enjoy one, you'll certainly enjoy the other.

Both are about a boy and a girl from different places, that have to be united to save the world.

Similar elements concerning time travel (of a sort) and the differences between the past and the present.

The same studio producers. Both have a very similar visual designs and both plot-lines also have an element of nature having taken over.

Both have very similar characters. Renton is just like Agito: sometimes stupid and funny but very heroic and brave when needed. Eureka is very similar with Tula: both are different from normal people, sometimes strange and heroic. In this movie main characters are two young people just like in Eureka seven. I find these very similar.

Giniro no Kami no Agito has a similar animation style as well as the similar plot of having a kind of quest to complete.

Metropolis is in a city setting while Origin is in a rural environment. Both towns are being controlled by military. Both male protagonists find a girl in trouble and defend them. While Origin is slightly more encouraging both are about over coming a problematic destiny.
