When aliens suddenly invade the world, Earth seems to be fighting a losing battle until Arikawa, one of the defense command staff, accidentally discovers a young man lying on a hill. Tests soon prove the impossible: this one teenager, Kakashi, has the power to defeat the attackers! Unfortunately, Kakashi has also lost his memory, and with it the knowledge of how to actually use his power. Moving Kakashi in with himself and his own commander, Shiro, Arikawa accidentally starts a strange triangle of emotions and relationships. A triangle that threatens the fate of the planet as Kakashi begins to question his own motivations!
Some people say that there's no plot and the story is too simple but I can't disagree more. The show makes you ponder about the deeper question behind it. Why are they attacking? Why should I fight? What happens if I don't? Am I alone?
To me, the story is absolutely stunning (and I ended up crying a little while watching). It is some what light hearted but those who have watched anime like Bokurano will definitely be struck by the similarity between the underlying theme.
The main issue with this is the animation. However, I came to watch it with the full knowledge that it is a mixture of anime and comics animation so while it is a major drawback, I was not too much of an issue to me.read more
Watching this OVA was absolutely breathtaking. I, per se, thought the animation was stunning. It was truly unique and a breath of fresh air. I really loved not just the character designs but the backgrounds as well. The use of pattern and comic elements really made the animation pop.
The story itself was very cute and lighthearted making it a relatively easy watch although information regarding Kakashi's relation the aliens still remains a mystery. I also wish there had been some more development leading up to the ending. I think it would have enhanced the OVA if it had been a tad bit longer. The ending of the OVA was very heartwarming and I could have sworn I felt a tear or two developing.
The shounen ai elements of the story were very poignant and soft and contrasted very well with the story. I'm really happy that it wasn't the type that would smack you right in the face or else I think the story would not have went as smoothly.
The voice actors were wonderful and really fit the characters and their personalities well. The ending song really added to the emotions of the ending and I thought it fit perfectly.
Perhaps not everyone will enjoy this anime but I would highly recommend it if you enjoy anime's that are out of the ordinary.
Overall, I really enjoyed the OVA! I'm stuck between a 9 and a 10 so I'd give it a 9.5/10.read more
A truly beautiful animation. The shy and lonely student who was closest to his teacher and wanted to make friends. The feeling of the detailed scenery of the stars on the beautiful night sky, the galaxy, the crystals that absorbed the color of light. An unforgettable happy ending, the feeling of nostalgia running through my ears while listening to the ending song. This is the greatest feeling I've ever felt while watching an OVA in my entire life.
Overall, I give this a 9/10. I was nearly sent to tears with this. This is a must watch for any fujoshi, or anyone looking for a beautiful love story. What I love most about this is not just the visuals, ending song, and story, but also the characters that gave me a heartwarming feeling and the fact that this was more of a realistic example of a student-teacher relationship.
I hope my review could be helpful to you based on what I experienced. read more
