Hunter x Hunter (2011) is set in a world where Hunters exist to perform all manner of dangerous tasks like capturing criminals and bravely searching for lost treasures in uncharted territories. Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become the best Hunter possible in hopes of finding his father, who was a Hunter himself and had long ago abandoned his young son. However, Gon soon realizes the path to achieving his goals is far more challenging than he could have ever imagined.

Along the way to becoming an official Hunter, Gon befriends the lively doctor-in-training Leorio, vengeful Kurapika, and rebellious ex-assassin Killua. To attain their own goals and desires, together the four of them take the Hunter Exam, notorious for its low success rate and high probability of death. Throughout their journey, Gon and his friends embark on an adventure that puts them through many hardships and struggles. They will meet a plethora of monsters, creatures, and characters—all while learning what being a Hunter truly means.

There is a reason for why this anime is ranked as #5 in the Top Anime Page.

Can you watch this if you're new to anime? Yes.
What you need to know, is that long type of anime series tend to have a slow start. Don't let that scare you off! Even without super intense fighting in the beginning, the series will catch you offguard and make you want to watch always one more episode.

As a typical shounen anime, the MC's power up throughout the series. The beautiful excecution of that is what makes HxH (2011) so much better than your average shounen/action. This series contains read more

i will start with the negative ones, because the rest of it is me saying how epic this anime is. PLUS, before you watch this anime, you really need to watch the 1st episode of the original HXH, because it will be needed later on.

NEGATIVES: slow and kinda childish beginning. every arc is above "good" but if you compare the 2 best arcs with the 2 worst youll see the difference. even tho it ended in a satisfying way, its still bothersome that we know the manga is ongoing but it will never finish. one scene in the beginning wasnt added, which made some plot read more

The lack of popularity surrounding Hunter x Hunter (2011) has always confused me, especially after catching up to it six months ago. For an anime that seems to do everything right, it isn't talked about a lot at a popular level. Neither has it been successful in garnering a fan base similar to that of SNK or SAO. I decided to write this review to do the show justice. If a show this good is still flying under your radar or if you are discouraged from watching this because of its "childish appearance" then reading this review is a must.

HxH 2011 is truly a top-tier anime. So far, out of any other anime, it is literally the best one I've watched. Period.

Story: 10/10

It may be tough for newcomers to get interested in HxH starting from episode one, simply because it begins somewhat childish. The anime starts off very "happy happy" and takes quite a bit for it to get dark and violent, which is what most anime fans wanna see. If you're patient enough, you'll begin to see things change. From Killua killing people left and right and Gon getting his ass kicked left and right, that's when the story picks up. HxH produces read more

Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Both series have an innovative and entertaining argument. The characters are so real; they are not the typical kick ass character. For that reason, the strategies are the most important at the moment of fight.

Personally i'm a huge OP fan since more than a decade and i have to say that it took me a while before actually giving a try to HxH 'cuz i wasn't sure if i would've liked it.. But. Woah against my expectations i really did like it more than i thought! Truth is that after i gave it a try, i couldn't stop watching it.
The more i was seeing it and the more it was giving me the same feeling that OP gives me. They have the same vibe and have the power to let you enjoyed more and more, this way  read more

Anime: Yuu☆Yuu☆Hakusho
These two anime are extremely similar, as one would expect since the source material for both anime come from the same mangaka. The two anime have similar themes, characters, and similar, overall atmospheres.

Anime: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Both series look like light comedy/action at first yet both end up having much deeper and darker stories.
Despite it's bright colours, some dark themes get explored and both series are not afraid to kill people here and there.
They all have young main characters who are set on adventure where they meet a lot of new people and friends.

Anime: Naruto
Both series are long running (lots of episodes) series that center around action and fighting. The main characters are very good and the stories are very profound. The powers of the different characters will surprise you every time you get to see a new one. The main characters power never seem repetative and you will always want to see the next episode right away due the high level of suspense throughout the series.

Anime: Shingeki no Kyojin
These two anime are depressing to watch. SnK is fully depressing but HxH is like cheerful at first then becoming a psychological kind of anime at the last part. Either way, these two have bad-ass female characters.
