Both shows revolve around mecha fighting bug like monsters that are invading earth. Muv-Luv focuses less on the bug killing and more on the politics and relationships behind the mecha that nations make to protect themselves from the bugs. Blue Gender is pretty much all bug killing goer with some romance tossed in. Both are worth watching if your into mecha battles and alien invasions.
Both have a similar story, with a war between humans and aliens. Aliens already destroyed some places in the world, with the rest trying to survive, fighting against they. Protagonists are moe girls.
Very similar to each other. Both stories involve humans fighting alien bugs that are taking over the earth. They also both favor character development over actual battles, which can be a let down for some people.
Both show feature nationality conflicts among mecha pilots. MLA TE appears to be a dark show on the surface, but it is in fact a harem just like IS. Both are worth checking out if you like harems.
Both are mecha series with a prominently female cast and a bait-and-switch beginning.
Mankind faces enemies that eat human beings. Both are similar due to the gruesome nature and fear that the heroes have to face while trying to prevent imminent human extinction. Protagonists have lost loved ones (family/friends) in the first few episodes in the most gruesome way to the point that it will probably mentally scar them for life .

If you like the thrill of survival genres then you'll love these shows!
Both shows involve a predominantly female cast combating alien lifeforms. The use of technology is an integral component in both series.
In both, school girls are trained to be mecha pilots and face an alien enemy army.

Both series contain comedy (more so in Dual), action, drama, and also some tragedy.

- a grim dark future scenario
- humanity face a strong and merciless opponent and is not on the winning side

A bait-and-switch first episode (first two episodes in TE's case) and the fact that anyone can die in the gritty setting is in both series. Both have an alien (not in the extraterrestrial sense) force that humans fight against but MLA: TE obviously goes in a different direction with the mecha/mecha and mecha/alien combat while GR: Z is human/supernatural combat.

Both series also contains violence that details the more science fiction setting as well as the dangers the characters face each day in the military.
Both series begin showing an apocalypse where aliens bodies brutally attack to mankind, showing bloody scenes with some mechas involved.
The beginning of both animes is intense, the first 3 episodes in the case of the Kiss Dum and in the case of MUV the first two.
The difference is that after those intense episodes Kiss Dum maintains an acceptable story and action, while MUV change to harem with very little of military aspect.
Furthermore, both male protagonists has a history with their 'female heads'
First of all it's mecha..and the main characters looks similar and they are both good pilots
Both series faces off against an alien race that threatens humans lives with two female protagonists fighting against them. (SCI-FI)
Total Eclipse has the Tactical Surface Fighters to stop the BETA, and Senki Zesshou Symphogear has the Symphogear to stop the Noise.
Senki Z also has a great soundtrack and the two protagonists for both series are fated to fight with each other.
In essence, both series adopt the setting of a futuristic world where the usage of mecha is a tool that strikes both fear and intimidation to enemies.

The main male protagonist in both series gets caught up in various events and seemingly witnesses violence and horror from them.

There are also science fiction/fantasy themes that are not normal or from what we see in our every day lives. Among other factors, both series also have drama involving various factions of their worlds.

They both have training academies for young people to train as pilots for mechas. They even use the same type of weaponry to fend off against alien invasions of Earth.
Aliens are attacking Earth and trying to take over and destroy everything but humanity tries to find ways to fight back. Both anime are sci-fi, dark and have similar Anime styles.
Does one choose to never cry again or does one choose to find someone to protect. Earth is being invaded by aliens and a choice has to be made about whether to fight or not, or just give up on the world entirely.
Aliens attack Earth and they use pilots in mechas to force back the invasion. Similar color scheme and lots of angst.
Both involve fighting off supernatural beings in Giant Mecha, and it does have some elements of dark psychological moments. Scenario is the same since it is set on a similar timeline as well as having a post-apocalyptic environment.
Both are Sci-fi, military-related anime with mechas. The main male characters give the same feelings but are quite different. Also some comedy and little bit of drama. If you like one then see other too.
end of the world type anime
Similarities:

Both involves the earth being invaded by extra terrestrial beings.

Dissimilarities:
The school girls in the other anime were drafted into service, while in the other anime the schools girls volunteer to be in the service.

The mechs in the other anime were extra terrestrial in origin, while in the other anime the mechs were built on earth.

There were only 3 mechs involved in the fighting of extraterrestrial invaders, while in the other anime there were a lot involved in the defense of earth.

I've dropped the other anime while I'm yet to see if the other one will interest me to follow it through.
Pretty, young female pilots.

Dark atmosphere.
Both are about group who work for self interest rather then working together to stop the real threat of the Monsters.
