Both shows revolve around mecha fighting bug like monsters that are invading earth. Muv-Luv focuses less on the bug killing and more on the politics and relationships behind the mecha that nations make to protect themselves from the bugs. Blue Gender is pretty much all bug killing goer with some romance tossed in. Both are worth watching if your into mecha battles and alien invasions.
- Earth under attack by giant insect like creatures
- Mechs are the weapons of choice
- Characters faced with grim realities
muv luv gives me that feeling that its the prequel to blue gender so if you like one you will like the other
they both share how they fight to keep alive, Blue Gender is more about what happens to incecs after mutation and Total Eclipse is from when they invated earth. They are both worth watching

Both have a similar story, with a war between humans and aliens. Aliens already destroyed some places in the world, with the rest trying to survive, fighting against they. Protagonists are moe girls.
While Strike Witches does lack the usage of mecha, both series still has quite a lot of similarities.
Both series has strong and independent female characters who has their own goals/ambitions but the skills expected from the military. Speaking of which, both series involves a lot of military and their dealings against "aliens" or otherworldly beings throughout the series.
Both series' main female protagonist has a strong will and often does her best for her friends and comrades placing their safeties above her own.
Both series has science fiction themes that has advanced technology beyond our modern times.
Both series has a lot of action, drama, some comedy, but also emotional moments.
It's similar in a way because in both, they are being invaded by extra-terrestrials and use machines to fight them, Even though Strike Witches uses partial-body machines instead of the full-body ones. Another thing is in both, the main characters' father is the person that invented those machines.
Both have girls recruited in somekind of military
Both have aerial combat
Both are trying to defend their country
Both are dealing with an opposing force such as Neurois/BETAS
Both have fanservice
Both are very fun and amazing to watch as well, if you don't mind a bit of fanservice.

Very similar to each other. Both stories involve humans fighting alien bugs that are taking over the earth. They also both favor character development over actual battles, which can be a let down for some people.
The setting of humanity getting decimated by aliens, losing horribly, being forced to draft kids, and the resulting mecha battles against said aliens are quite similar in style and mood. Despite Total Eclipse having more fanservice, in general the Muvluv universe is very similar.
Similar in a way where the world is at war with an alien race that has devastated much of the world and the creation of mecha is used to fight against them. Those who pilot are mostly high school students.
However it deals more with the romance and how that society is different to ours.

Both show feature nationality conflicts among mecha pilots. MLA TE appears to be a dark show on the surface, but it is in fact a harem just like IS. Both are worth checking out if you like harems.

Mankind faces enemies that eat human beings. Both are similar due to the gruesome nature and fear that the heroes have to face while trying to prevent imminent human extinction. Protagonists have lost loved ones (family/friends) in the first few episodes in the most gruesome way to the point that it will probably mentally scar them for life .
If you like the thrill of survival genres then you'll love these shows!
Both animes revolve around humankind fighting against extinction against an disgusting and repulsive lifeform that eats humans. The animes are both dark for this reason though Shingeki shows more of the gore than Muv-Luv.

In both, school girls are trained to be mecha pilots and face an alien enemy army.
This show reminded me a lot of Gunbuster. The aliens are similar, and the fanservice is integrated into mech battles.
However, Total Eclipse is more gruelsome and graphic, and doesn't have the super robot feel good elements nearly as much

A bait-and-switch first episode (first two episodes in TE's case) and the fact that anyone can die in the gritty setting is in both series. Both have an alien (not in the extraterrestrial sense) force that humans fight against but MLA: TE obviously goes in a different direction with the mecha/mecha and mecha/alien combat while GR: Z is human/supernatural combat.

Both series begin showing an apocalypse where aliens bodies brutally attack to mankind, showing bloody scenes with some mechas involved.
The beginning of both animes is intense, the first 3 episodes in the case of the Kiss Dum and in the case of MUV the first two.
The difference is that after those intense episodes Kiss Dum maintains an acceptable story and action, while MUV change to harem with very little of military aspect.
Furthermore, both male protagonists has a history with their 'female heads'
