Synopsis

In A.G. 101 (the 101st year of the Advanced Generation calendar) a mysterious entity known only as "UE", or "unknown enemy", attacks and destroys the space colony Angel. This brutal attack becomes infamous as the "The Day the Angel Fell", and marks the beginning of humanity's war for survival.

The series begins in A.G. 108 when the UE attack the space colony Ovan, where Flit Asuno lives with his mother. Flit's mother is killed by the UE, and in her belongings (in an object called a "AGE Device") he discovers the blueprints for a powerful weapon from the past - the ancient messiah named "Gundam."

From these blueprints, Flit spends the next several years studying engineering at an Earth Federation base on the Nora space colony and designing the AGE-1 Gundam. Seven years later, in A.G. 115, Flit completes the Gundam, just as the UE attack Nora. Flit and his lineage's battle piloting the AGE-1 to protect mankind is about to begin.

Well, this will be my first ever review for a series.. reasons for me actually taking the time to write one, is because I believe this is a very underrated series as it's part of the Gundam franchise.. I'll break it down.

Story: 9

Since the series is currently airing, I have seen all 30 episodes that are out and honestly I am happy with how its progressed. I give it an 9 for Creativity, and for it being unique in it's franchise. I say unique, because it's introduced a generational feel to the franchise which previously in other Gundam series is something that has not happened. read more

I was quite reluctant to write a review on this, but after seeing this anime getting so much hate which it truly doesn't deserve, at least not until someone has seen at least first few episodes of an anime which is expected to have a 4Q run (50-ish episodes), I decided to write a review on much hated Gundam AGE to share my takes on it.

What the synopsis tells is, the story begins with the death of Flit Asuno's mother. Flit's mother, and probably his entire family became a victim of an attack by Unidentified Enemy, or UE as they are referred to in short. read more

Recommendations

Although the two are not related, but there's a reason why I recommend this one:

1. The character design reminds us with the character design we see before (PMMM with Hidamari Sketch, Gundam AGE with Inazuma Eleven).
2. At first glance the story is lighthearted, but the longer storyline, the more serious gradually.
Aliens from outer space attacking home? A high school student forced to pilot a machine to protect friends? Mecha? Relationships?
Sounds very similar ;D

Opening Theme

#1: "Asu e (明日へ)" by Galileo Galilei (eps 1-15)
#2: "sharp #" by Negoto (eps 16-28)
#3: "REAL" by ViViD (eps 29-??)

Ending Theme

#1: "Kimi no Naka no Eiyuu (君の中の英雄)" by Minami Kuribayashi (eps 1-15)
#2: "My World" by SPYAIR (eps 16-28)
#3: "WHITE justice" by Faylan (eps 29-??)
