Mirai Nikki (or Future Diary as it is known in English) is one of the most popular anime to come out in recent years along with Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan and much like those shows, it has divided the anime community into two camps, those who love it unconditionally and those who hate it with a burning passion, which results in a slew of insults complete with poor spelling and grammar being thrown around forums and comment sections. Now that I’ve got this little bit of superfluous information out of the way, you probably want to know what I think about the show. Well, that is the purpose of this review (obviously).
I’m just going to start off by saying that it is quite silly. Don’t get me wrong and start attacking my page, because “silly” doesn’t always equate to “bad” (case in point Gurren Lagann is one of my favourite anime of all time). But keep in mind that I didn’t say that the particular brand of silly is awesome. The premise is actually bloody interesting. It revolves around several people in a battle royale where the winner becomes the god of time and space and they are all equipped with supernatural cellphones that can tell the future (also known as “future diaries”, hence the show’s title) which they use to their advantage. A large perk of a premise like this is that it is perfect for setting up plot twists and for creating tension. Boy does the show use this to its advantage. Alliances are forged and broken by betrayal, good guys turn out to be bad guys and major characters are killed off. This makes the show unpredictable which we can all agree is a good thing. It also places a lot of focus on the side characters as well as the main characters as they off each other and help each other out so it feels more authentic than a lot of other survival game stories where the side characters are all placed in line for our protagonist to fight.
I am now going to address what I said earlier about the show being silly. It is over the top. And trust me, that is an understatement. Homicidal five year olds, zombies, the god of space and time (Deus Ex Machina) and the list goes on. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with being over the top to a certain extent (I love the Sin City graphic novels for crying out loud!) but there are times when the show tries way too hard and certain things just don’t fit to the point where you get the impression that the show doesn’t know what it wants to be. The show wants you to believe it is an edgy psychological action/thriller. There are times when the over the top nature works in its favour, for example I thought the addition of zombies and a crazy religious cult added to the badass factor of the show as well as setting up cool action scenes (because honestly who doesn’t want to see a cute pink haired yandere fight zombies with a goddamn axe) but there were times when I felt like the show was saying “Oooh, we’re super dark and edgy because we have a five year old psychopath and a serial killer wearing combat gear” and this gave me the feeling that they were trying too hard and made it seem quite stupid. And when you’ve added a character with an army of robot dogs, it stops being simply stupid and becomes fucking childish. Stuff like this prevents you from taking it seriously when the show obviously wants you to. That being said, the show was rather entertaining. Like I said earlier, it is quite unpredictable and has a certain cool factor. However the things I mentioned did hinder my enjoyment, which is quite a sad thing.
The characters are without a doubt the weakest part of the show and were what held it back the most. First off there’s fourteen year old Yukiteiru Amano, or Yukki as he is often referred to. He’s our protagonist. Yukki is dragged into the game by his friend Deus Ex (the god of space and time and the guy who started this competition) who Yukki had thought was his imaginary friend up until that point. Yeah, this fourteen year old boy has a fucking imaginary friend. Yeah that’s right, he’s a fucking loser! To further emphasize this point, before being dragged into this little game his only hobbies were recording mundane shit on his phone and unenthusiastically throwing darts (a feat which comes to his advantage later). But what’s he like? Well calm down and I’ll tell you. He’s a pussy. He cowers, cries and whimpers throughout the majority of the series making the viewer want to jam a screwdriver though his skull. “But dude, you have Shinji Ikari in your favourites, you’re contradicting yourself you biased prick!” is what some of you might be thinking right now. Well, Shinji is realistic and that’s the reason I like him. Yukki pushes this angst and wimpiness to the point where it’s not credible and exaggerated wimpiness is not something an average viewer would find appealing. I love Kamina from Gurren Lagann for his exaggerated manliness but that is an appealing characteristic in a protagonist. I guess the writer thought to himself “I’ll be different and put a scared kid in the role of the protagonist instead of the generic righteous leader type we’re so used to in these types of stories”. This would have been a really good idea if he was given more complexity than just “being a pussy” and if he were given a reason for being a pussy. A good example is the aforementioned Shinji Ikari. He’s an interesting and well thought out character that has layers (insert Shrek joke here). He also has good reason for being the way he is. His father treats him like shit and his mother died under dreadful circumstances when he was very young and to top that all off he’s forced into a situation that he knows fuck all about by his father. Yukki on the other hand grew up with a really chilled mom and an initially awesome dad (SPOILER: becomes a cunt later in the series) and his situation is nowhere near as bad as Shinji’s. And besides, Yukki makes Shinji look like Kenshiro on steroids. One Youtube anime reviewer referred to him as Noodledick Vaginasaurus and I can see why. He is without a doubt one of the worst protagonists I have ever seen. Towards the end of the series they try to make him seem like a badass but this sudden change feels really sudden and he doesn’t stay that way for very long so his character becomes very inconsistent.
The next character that I’m going to talk about is the character everyone thinks of when this series is brought up. Yes, the one and only Gasai Yuno. She’s become one of the most popular and iconic anime characters in recent years as well as the waifu of many lonely weeaboos. She is a psychopath who falls in love with good old Noodledick to the point where she is dangerously obsessed. She is also a contender in the survival game and is on Yukki’s side and she protects his useless ass from the other contestants. She flips between being a cute naïve teenage girl to being an all out psycho at the drop of the hat and these changes are unexpected and the transition is great. This genuinely creeps out the viewer and the fact that it can happen so suddenly adds to the sense of unpredictability that I mentioned earlier. She’s a fun character to watch too. Her insanity paired with her cuteness gives her a certain bizarre charm. However, as fun as she is, she is definitely not flawless. She’s ultimately just an archetype (that archetype being yandere) and this is a bit disheartening as it tells you that the writers were being lazy and just decided to use a simple, set archetype instead of adding more to said archetype. Another issue I had which was very much subjective was that she called out the protagonist’s name constantly throughout in a high pitched tone of voice. This was cute and pretty creepy the first couple of times but it got to a point where I felt like shoving screwdrivers in my fucking ears. She’s a really enjoyable yet problematic character who is frankly a tad overrated.
Now for the rest of this show’s cast. Unfortunately they’re the show’s worst flaw in my humble opinion. A lot of them are copied and pasted from other, better shows (we’ve got Kaworu and Revy here), are given less screen time than they deserve, feel like they don’t belong in this sort of show, have REALLY overblown backstories and for the most part they don’t behave in a believable way (dude, one doesn’t become someone’s close friend in three minutes).
Now let’s delve into the show’s art. It’s not spectacular but it’s definitely not bad. I particularly liked the depth and detail they gave the eyes of the characters and the scenes in Deus Ex’s world which had a really dreamlike quality due to all the purple used. The overall designs of the characters are standard fare and there is nothing about them that really stands out as being really good or really bad, with the exception of Deus who has the misfortune of being done in shitty CG.
The same can be said about the show’s soundtrack. It does its job sufficiently enough but when I think back there were no tracks that really stood out. The same can’t be said about the show’s OP tracks though. The show’s first opening is without a shred of doubt one of the greatest of all time. The contrasting red and whites and the song’s fast pace and grand scale are enough to send chills down one’s spine. The second opening is memorable for a different reason though. It’s in FUCKING ENGRISH and it is therefore goddamn hilarious.
In conclusion Mirai Nikki isn’t the deep mature thriller its fanbase make it out to be but it certainly isn’t the harbinger of anime’s decay like many critics would have you believe. Granted it can get REALLY fucking stupid but it can also be a ton of fun at times too. Whether I’d recommend this show or not doesn’t matter because you’ll probably watch it regardless due to its immense popularity. Since I’m more or less impartial to the show it’s not something I’d recommend but at the same time it’s not something I’d tell people to stay away from. So that about wraps up my review. Sayonara suckers.
Feedback would be much appreciated. read more
Notice: this review will contain a few spoilers. I'll mark them but if you haven't watched this yet, proceed with caution. Sorry about that.
Survival games have always been one of my favorite kinds of stories. I just love them. So naturally, when I heard about Mirai Nikki's premise, I was greatly looking forward to it. Unfortunately, after an excellent first episode, this series began to get worse and worse; by the end of it all, it had become nothing but a huge disappointment.
Let's begin with the positive aspects of this show. The art and animation in Mirai Nikki are, for the most part, rather good, but nothing very impressive. As for character designs, it's pretty hit-and-miss. Some characters look OK, while others are so ridiculous it makes the anime seem/feel less serious than it should be, which is NOT a good thing for a thriller/mystery.
The music is great. Most of the tracks are somewhat memorable and fit their scenes well. The OPs and EDs are also very nice, with the first OP being particularly awesome. I never skipped them. Voice acting-wise, everyone does a solid, consistent job, except for Yuno's seiyuu. I'm sorry, but her voice was annoying and hearing that infamous "Yukki!" every god damn minute was painful.
Now let's get to the bad stuff. While the premise is amazing, the story & script are very poorly written. Thing is, Mirai Nikki is a shounen trying (and failing) to be a seinen; thus, it lacks the maturity and depth needed to handle the kind of story it offers. Many questions are left unanswered, some of the writing choices are just plain stupid, half of the characters have a very low IQ and, for a mystery, there aren't that many twists, and those the anime DOES have are often predictable.
The whole concept of using Future Diaries to outsmart opponents in deadly, tense battles is BARELY explored, plus the battles themselves seldom involve complexity. When you've got tools as powerful as those, you'd think there'd be gambits just piling up on each other, but no. Many battles are over within a minute and are so basic it's insulting. Speaking of insulting, this show has a nasty tendency to have its world just forget about some of the big events related to the diary holders. Normally the media would be all over a series of bombings, massacres, etc... but here? Nah, it's just Tuesday again. It's astonishing how everyone can easily get away from anything.
Another problem with this anime is its bad habit of throwing in bits of humor in the middle of serious moments. It really kills the atmosphere and it's not funny. Even in the more lighthearted scenes it's not funny. Since we're talking about the atmosphere, have I mentioned that some details in crucial moments are overlooked, which obliterates the immersion? Empty hospitals, incompetent cops, silent bystanders...it's the little things that can make or break the mood. A shame, really, because the anime IS able to create a good, creepy atmosphere at times (ex.: the end of episode 3).
Remember what I said about there being a lot of predictable twists? I kinda lied. The biggest twist in the whole story, which unfolds in the last few episodes, took me by surprise. Did it make sense? Well, yes, at least until the anime began to blatantly make shit up on the spot. Did it answer a few questions? For sure. Did it raise even more questions - most of which remain unanswered - and present to us an INCREDIBLY STUPID twist later? OH YES.
Now for the worst part of it all. The characters. If you're already angry at me, stop reading because I will not be gentle.
For starters we have the male protagonist, Yukiteru (or just Yuki). This guy. Let me tell you something about this guy: he might just be one of the worst written characters I have ever seen. No hyperbole there. Not because he's a wimp 95% of the time - I can understand why. No-one normal would stay frosty after being dragged into a survival game full of maniacs. So why is he so bad then? It's because he's absurdly inconsistent. Most selective memory of all time, gullible when not paranoid (never with the correct timing), ability to forgive that defies common sense and, later on, he can't even settle on a personality (which seems to run in the family). Worst part is, his personality shift happens suddenly; he gets almost no development for 18 or so episodes then BAM! complete 180. If you're going to change a character's attitude, make sure it isn't baffling and that it sticks.
Then we have our female protagonist, Yuno, the main source of yandere-ness, fanservice and body bags. THE poster girl of Mirai Nikki, to the point where she may be more popular than the show itself - just look at how many favorites she has here at MAL. The creator knew of this, so s/he made her the most complex character in the whole cast and genuinely fun to watch. Unfortunately, that complexity only really shows up in the last few episodes, so until then she's pretty much a one note character - crush, kill, Yukki!. Moreover, the yandere trait eventually wears off, meaning she can get kinda annoying afterwards, even with all the carnage she provides. If it cannot wear off for you, then Mirai Nikki will be considerably more entertaining. Either way, Yuno was a hit-or-miss character for me.
The supporting cast - Yuki's friends and the other diary holders - is where it gets ugly. Out of the former group, the ONLY truly memorable character (and, might I add, one of the few characters in this anime that I liked) is the intelligent Akise. His personality and abilities are a perfect match for this kind of story, which is a shame because he didn't get enough screen time. The other three, despite getting some things accomplished, end up being inept at almost everything, to the point that Akise pretty much has to carry the team.
As for the other diary holders...just where do I begin? For starters, they're pretty much all insane or very dangerous individuals, except for maybe 2 of them; that alone raises a pretty important question: "why did Deus even consider letting one of those crazy bastards be his successor?". Another problem is that some may as well have "fodder" written on their foreheads: most don't even last for three episodes, plus they're lucky if they get a mediocre, unpolished back story full of cheap shocks to make you feel bad for them.
*SPOILERS PRESENT IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPHS* What kills me is that some of the diary holders are such piles of stupid writing it's absurd. I mean, one of them is a 5-year-old kid who's just as messed up as the others, somehow has access to stuff like toxic gas and who can formulate rather elaborate plans. Another is the mama bear of an orphanage composed of people who are willing to erase anyone for her - dressed as ninjas, no less. Yet another is a blind Power Rangers fanatic who dresses up as an eyeball (and who can somehow bring dolls to life. Never explained!) to fight crime. Remember, this anime takes itself seriously.
There's also the eleventh diary holder, the Hitler wannabe who gave Deus the idea for the diaries. Since the anime never even tries to further explore such an important character, allow me to ask some questions: how did he (or any of the diary holders) meet Deus? Why did Deus even listen to this obviously crazy man? Why future diaries, and not some kind of superpower? By the way, why is Deus decaying? What is MurMur's origin? Why did EVERY ONE of the diary holders only gun for Yuki? The questions pile up fast once the characters are taken into consideration.
Was there not a single diary holder that I liked? The answer is yes. That would be Minene, the ninth, the series' resident internationally wanted terrorist (at the tender age of 18. Seriously). She was pretty awesome and likable for most of her screen time, which made watching her turn into a textbook tsundere even more painful. And let's not talk about her ABSOLUTELY STUPID role in the final marathon of twists. *SPOILERS END HERE*
What about enjoyment? Believe me in this one: if you pay attention to the writing, Mirai Nikki will be painful. The mountain of questions, the absurd decisions that some of the characters make, etc...you just won't get a lot of breaks after the first few episodes. So what if you employ the good ol' "turn off your brain" strategy? It probably won't be all that enjoyable either. As I've said before, this is a shounen trying to be a seinen. You can just FEEL it try. And fail. I don't know about the rest of you, but that really kills the experience for me.
In conclusion, Mirai Nikki is a huge disappointment. Its messy story and weak characters are simply not fit for the genre it belongs to. Even if the art was OK, even if the soundtrack was great, even if the anime has its moments and holds the potential to be enjoyable should one ignore the writing issues, it simply does not live up to the hype. I'm probably gonna get lynched by its fanbase; however, I don't really care. I'm done. I needed to get this out of my system, and there it is.

This is the first anime review I've ever written, so hopefully everything will turn out ok. Any feed back would be appreciated as long as its constructive ;)
This review won't contain any spoilers.
What would you do if you had something that told you the future? If you already had all the answers for an upcoming test, or knew how to avoid bully's on the way home from school? What about if it told you were going to die?
Mirai Nikki is a brilliant mix of a Psychological Thriller, Action, and Romance. Yuki is a boy who gains the ability to read the future through his personal diary, which is awesome until he finds out that there are 11 other people who also have their own diary's and are his opponents in a competition to become a god. But thats not all bad, he happens to have someone to protect him. Enter Gasai Yuno, a cute girl who goes to Yuki's school. She also has a future diary, and it turns out she has a bit of a crush on Yuki.... and is an insane psychopathic stalker, or Yandere if you will. The story follows these two as they try to survive in the killing game they've been placed in.
Personally, i think the anime is a 10/10, but for this review i gave it a 9 because of a few small problems in the story.
Story 9 - The story of Mirai Nikki is at its core a Romance, though its so much more than that as well. It explores how ones actions and willpower can change the future and how good people can do go insane or do terrible things because of traumatic experiences. The pacing is fairly fast, but not forced, even when there's no intense action going on, you find yourself on the edge of your seat knowing that an enemy could pop up at any time. I experienced all sort of emotions throughout the anime, fear, happiness, excitement, sadness. The shock value was insane. My reason for a 9 instead of a 10 was that some of the things that happen in the anime are soo over the top ridiculous and unbelievable that i just couldn't reasonably give it a perfect score and that some of the things that happen in the last few episodes get a bit out of hand, you'll see what i mean when you watch it.
Art 10 - Don't know what all there is to say about the Art. It's not the best ive ever seen, but there's no problems with it. The action scenes are fast paced and well animated and the characters all look fine. I see no reason to dock an anime points unless the animation is so miserable that it has negative effects my viewing experience, and one of my favorite animes is Berserk, which is terribly animated.
Sound 10 - The Opening and ending themes are fantastic, and go along perfectly with the anime. The first opening theme is my favorite song of all of them and does a perfect job of maintaining the feel of the anime. The music generally goes very well with the scenes that its played over, especially when Yuno does something awesome.
Character 10 - I would rate this higher if possible. The characters is where Mirai Nikki truly shines. Yuki is a kind of a wimp who has to rely on others to protect him, and ive seen plenty of people complain about this, but in all honesty i think that makes the anime so much better. He's a 14 year old boy thrown into a battle royal with people trying to kill him, I would probly be a bit of a wimp if that happened to me too. He's forced to seek aid from and rely on others in order to survive. And he isnt without redeeming moments either. All the side characters are well developed and have their pasts and motives explained in the story and a few of them are just plain awesome. All that being said, the part of this anime that got me hooked, and the reason its become one of my favorites of all time, is the female lead Gasai Yuno. She's incredibly cute, and incredibly psychopathic, and the perfect yandere. Shes also one of the most unique characters I've ever seen in an anime. Most of the psychological thrills stem from trying to figure out what the heck shes going to do next. At one moment your scared of her, another you can't help but smile at how cute something she does is, then you notice the knife in her hand and your scared of her again. Sometimes you want her to do something insane and at others your shocked about something insane shes doing. She's the selling point on the entire anime for me.
Enjoyment 10 - I couldn't stop watching Mirai Nikki, i watched it over the span of 2 days. And spent the entire day at work the second day anticipating what would happen in the anime after i got home. I have yet to watch an anime that kept me on the edge of my seat to such an extent as Mirai Nikki.
Overall 9 - Mirai Nikki is a great and unique story, the characters are excellent especially Yuno, who is one of the most unique characters ive ever seen in an anime. Mirai Nikki is certainly worth giving a shot. read more
This is my first review of anything ever so I hope you will enjoy it. This review may contain spoilers which I'll try to label with this [spoiler alert] brackets. This review is subjective, though I'll try to make it a little objective too. And I'm sorry for writing part of "story" in "characters" section.
Mirai Nikki was actually the first anime I've ever watched (not counting the Pokemon which I didn't recognise as anime and watched it ages ago) and now it is one of my favourites. Why have I actually end up watching it? It was around November last year, and on some website the fanart presenting with typical bloody Yuno Gasai surfaced with caption "I watched it, and enjoyed it, should I go to the hospital?". I was intrigued and since I had nothing better to do, with a little help of the Internet I searched for the name of the anime. Mirai Nikki - The Future Diary, seemed nice and after brief reading of description I've decided to watch it with thoughts "yeah it is probably going to be some stupid crap"... and that evening I have spent with watching five episodes of this anime.
I enjoyed almost every aspect of the story. The battle royale, the cell phones predicting future (I think this concept was just an amazing thing to set), the Deus Ex-machine and the whole reference to Roman Mythology... and of course plot twists. Oh. My. God. About the plot twists, I mean a shitload of plot twists, and very often I couldn't foresee what would happen next which was very exciting. The second thing that I liked was accuracy with manga story, because I often came across anime with stories that are completely different that those in manga, and quite often it is a change for worse. The story itself was really thrilling and amazing and kept me up to watch yet another episode, and even when I was in school I was thinking about what would happen next. But of course there were some mistakes or understatements [SPOILER ALERT] like what happened to Yuno's parents? I mean they were quite well-off with their own bank right? So I think in a real life there were absolutely no chance that they would go missing just like that, especially with the bodies lying in one of the rooms for about half of the anime. That thing really bothered me [SPOILER ENDS HERE]. But for me as a new person introduced to the anime - the story was really amazing and I really enjoyed it. Be sure to watch it till the very end.
In this anime there is variety of different characters. The leading male is named Yukiteru Amano, and I think it is some kind of standard that the main character is an outsider, with an odd hobby or power, and sometimes he is a genius of course, and happens to be a complete badass. Well, Yukiteru is very average when it comes to grades and very weak when it comes to being badass. He is 14 years-old junior high school student with his head buried in the cell phone, because of writing his very interesting diary, and special skill being a dartboard marksman. It happens to be that he is given opportunity (by his not-so-imaginary God Deus Ex-Machina) of seeing future. He agrees but he didn't see the consequences as he is not the only one to see the future. The other eleven users are fighting fiercely, because the last man standing gets to be a God, and there is catch... if the new God wouldn't be chosen until 90 days... the world will be destroyed, seems fair, right? And the other user is infamous pink-haired homicidal queen of yandere herself Yuno Gasai. And one thing that I didn't like about her was her japanese voice actor. Worst. Voice. Ever. If I haven't found an english dub I'd probably gave up this series and anime at all! I don't think I can explain her character because it is very complex and difficult, so you have to watch it to understand the true definition of yandere. The other characters were nicely developed, but I don't think I can pick my favourite, but I hated Murmur. She was really annoying and I couldn't stand the scenes with her and ending of the series especially. [SPOILER ALERT] Very odd was the creation of the character named 5th... he was 5 years old I guess, but yet he was very skilled at making traps and... poisons (how the hell did he get them)? Though it made the characters more... various[SPOILER ENDS HERE].
I am not an artist, I can't really draw so I can't say much about it, only the fact that I really enjoyed the way it was drawn and animated. Seems that pink hair is pretty much normal colour in anime world. I couldn't get used to it, but the more anime I've seen the wiser about the "laws" of anime I've become.
Soundtrack is quite important part of anime to me. It is one of my favourites, right after Black Rock Shooter and Death Note. Although the first opening is the best opening I've ever heard and as right now it serves as my ringtone (of course the instrumental version of it). The other opening and endings were also very good, but I didn't like the vocals in them.
As for me it was one of the greatest anime I've ever seen (but I know I haven't seen much yet), because it made such a great impact and convinced me to watch other anime. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys action, sci-fi, thriller anime with lot of plot twists. If I was objective I could say that there were some logic mistakes, and it is not a perfect anime. The objective-me would give it 8/10, the subjective-me would rate it 10/10.
Both series have a young protagonist who is given/discovers he has an unusual power and is required to fight similarly powered people to survive. Both have similar art styles and rather stylishly violent action on top of its inherent moral dilemmas and pervasive air of desperation.
As soon as I started watching Mirai Nikki, I noticed a big similarity to Deadman Wonderland. In both series there's a strange girl that will do anything to protect the boy, both have everyone playing a life or death "game" where you either kill or be killed, the characters are very similar, and in both the main girl is yandere.
There are many other little details that make them similar, but so far those have been the biggest similarities I've seen. I felt the same sort of feeling while watching both of them, aswell. Despite the fact that the art is quite different, they're very much alike.
There's a style of horror in them that I don't see in many animes, which makes one a must watch to anyone who liked the other!
same theme and similar characters but different setting.both have a main character with a weird girl in bizzare situations in a weird world and both have violence ...
The principal caracters are in a ''game'' where they have to kill each other. Some want to participate, other have to fight against their will. Ganta and Yuki are quite similar, they are both weak at the begining and become more stronger through the story. They both are protected by a strong girl...
Very, very similar to Deadman. If you like one you are almost guaranteed to like the other.
The atmospheres of both shows are extraordinarily similar, possessing a common darkness and near-constant suspense. Deadman Wonderland tends to be a bit flashier about the gore, but both are undeniably gory. Both have supernatural elements to them, and the protagonists of both appear eerily alike at certain times (Ganta and Yukiteru, and Shiro and Yuno, respectively). There is also a common theme of survival, and, sometimes, being forced to cruelty and murder in order to continue living, as well as deception. The main characters are never quite sure who to trust, and they suffer greatly if they put their trust in the wrong hands.
These shows are far from being copies of each other, but they both demonstrate multiple commonalities and similarities and divert greatly from most anime even in their own genres, making them rare finds for the fans of this type of anime. If you enjoy one of these two shows, you’ll most likely enjoy the other, as well.
Similar from the very first episode - main boys are very similar, main girls too - sweet&deadly, both contains some kind of survival game and are kinda bloody. Also, both aren't very good
protagonist is a scared cat, some mentally deranged girls protects them but the guy also makes effort to be a hero, violence, released around same time.
Young, silent protagonistis drawn against his will into an unusual game for life and death. And strange girl follows him. And both titles are pretty bloooody.
Both are dealing with deadly games.
In both, there's a strange girl that will do anything to protect the boy. It's also unknown why the girl wants to protect the main boy so much. Both have everyone participating in a survival game. Lots of kill or be killed situations. There's gore scenes in each. They both offer the same kind of suspense for the viewer.
Both are intense, bloody and engaging shows that center around survival. Shiro and Ganta's relationship is very similar to that of Yuno and Yukkitteru-- both female leads have the dominant personality, mixed with mystery and more to them than meets the eye. Similar art between the two. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other, guaranteed.
A boy finds himself involved in a game in which participants need to fight each other, and a girl helps it survive
1. Both have the same setting of modern day Japan
2. Feature weak-willed boys who eventually become hardcore through various hardships but maintain their humanity
3. Lots of gore, plot twists, and other messed up stuff
4. Has a female character who constantly saves the boy and is hiding secrets from him
Overall amazing animes really worth watching
Very similiar vibe, main characters are pretty much the same. I feel that Mirai Nikki is a combination of Higashi no Eden's cell phone game and Deadman Wonderland's theme and atmosphere.
- They are both involved in a game in which they risk their life.
- The main boy and girl characters are VERY similar, with the girl being crazy about the boy.
- The main boy protagonist is a coward and got in the situation because someone set him up or he has to do it.
Really similar yet different, you'll probably like DWL if you liked Mirai Nikki in the slightest.
it's both about survival...a whiny main character a crazy female chick and other characters that try to help him
Deadman Wonderland is a dark series where the protagonist is in very real danger and could die at any moment in a high-stakes 'game'. It's a lot more bloody than Mirai Nikki, though to me, they share similar themes and concepts.
A survival game, a mysterious girl helps him, both have very similar feelings.
Mirai Nikki has a similar feeling to Deadman Wonderland. Both involve a 14 year old boy in a survival game fighting for his life. Also, the main girl in both animes appear to be crazily in love with the boy and is constantly looking out to protect him from danger. Both shows are violent (DW is more violent).
Oh God, these two series. You just can't help but think about Mirai Nikki when watching Deadman Wonderland as well as vice versa. Let's break this down here and see what they have in similarities:
1) Both series has a weak protagonist (at first) that gets their life turned around forever after the pilot episode as well as special circumstances. The main protagonist in both series then meets a young girl who has an interest in him.
2) Both series main female protagonist at first seemingly playful has a darker side to themselves as well as a holder of many secrets.
3) In both series, it's all about power and nearly every one where its usage is essential to survival.
4) Both series contain psychological themes that is presented both physically and mentally with some thriller like endings.
5) Both series contains drama, action, as well as gore presented in various ways to portray the reality of the characters' survival/deaths
6) Both series contain supernatural elements
Overall, both Mirai Nikki and Deadman Wonderland are two series that should be watched only if one enjoyed the other and vice versa, at least to some extent.
if you love watch deadman wonderland , may be you love this anime to
Both revolve around death. Both have similar protagonists, and even the partners of the protaginists. Both carry similar concepts about survival.
I haven't watched the other recommendation yet, but it does resemble Deadman Wonderland A lot.
Both are a nightmare survival game, filled with blood and gore.
Both have the main character as a shy boy.
Both main characters have a girl that has strong emotions for the boy.
Both the girls are extremely strong and take anyone and anything that targets their crush, no exemptions or thoughts about right and wrong, if you touch their crush you'll be torn to pieces.
Both are about games of survival between a group of people.
Both have an underdog male protagonist with a powerful female protagonist
Both have blood
Both anime have sort of wimpy character who just gets thrown into a survival game. They both have a dark feel to it. They both have really impacting story with cool characters and fun animation.
Your average wimpy teenage boy, thrown into a game of life and death. Turning his life upside down. Accompanied by a psychotic girl that only cares for him. Yandere for short. With all this to stand by, both anime are precisely the same.
Same atmosphere and greatness of story.DW is less Grus-um and more happyish you could say
Both girls love the main character and both girls have like a split personality were there nice normally, but when something happens they go INSANE
Same as in Mirai Nikki there is a lot of fighting in both of them, but in Deadman Wonderland the characters have powers (that involve minipullating their blood into some insanely cool weapons
•both have the strategic/determined to win streak in the main protagonist,
•both have a weak/pitiful/too nice, young boy, which he is partnered with a powerful, motivational young girl which has the intent to kill, while she keeps secrets
•both is given a power, that they have to win to survive the 'game' by killing off every other supporting character
•both have lots of blood, twists, and wicked laughing
•both show the characters mentality as they kill others for survival, in which their personalities change throughout the show, toughening up as the plot/story develops.
•both are similiar in which its a survival game with blood, twists, and the protagonists are personality wise the same.
Both are dark and violent death game anime centered around a young, yet fairly innocent boy and an eccentric young girl.
The two animes are a litte heavy and with a bit of gore action. (Spoil Alert) One of the main characters in either one of them is a girl with a disturbed split/bipolar personality. Another similarity is the fact that in either one of the plots, the characters have to forcely kill or fight each other.
Both series revolve around a forced "survival game" of sorts with prominent themes of trust and betrayal, and involve an inexperienced young boy and a mentally abnormal love interest that protects him. They also have a central theme about becoming strong through the destruction of innocence.
Both have frequent bloody violence, mild fanservice, a large cast of odd characters, and an overall "twisted" feel. However, Deadman Wonderland is more action-oriented and Mirai Nikki is more psychological.
Both have a young protagonist that recives unusual power, and must fight other opponents with the same kind of power, similar art style, nice story and lots of gore~~
Both involve a game to the death, and both involve a yandere. Though in this case, Mirai Nikki takes both to the extremes. If you enjoyed the thrill and suspense from Deadman Wonderland, you'll most definitely crave for Mirai Nikki.
Very similar male protagonist, dark themes, very unpredictable, great consept.
The MC is somewhat useless but grows some balls later on. The main female heroine in both animes have a somewhat similar relationship with the MC
When I first saw Deadman Wonderland, my first impression told me: Hey, I've seen something like this somewhere before.
Both animes are set in a 'futuristic' supernatural fantasy world, featuring a 'strong' female protaganist and 'weak' male protaganist who struggles to overcome the shock of sudden change in their life.
Personally, I prefer Mirai Nikki over Deadman Wonderland. Deadman Wonderland is too straightforward and shallow, it lacks the deep, thrilingl, filling plot/storyline and the strategies and the conspiracy that Mirai Nikki offers. Also in Mirai Nikki, the male protaganist's battle for his change in life is more evident.
If you enjoyed this anime, i guarantee you'd definitly love Mirai Nikki.
Both have a weak male lead who is dragged into a deadly survival situation where he meets a strong female lead who is always protecting him. Both male leads get stronger in mind and body as the series progresses and both series have tons of blood and violence.
Wants to protect each another at all cost.
To sum it up, Deadman Wonderland is a not-as-good version of Mirai Nikki.
both have gore and similar survival aspects. they also have two developing male leads which are covered by the more stronger yet unstable female counterparts
Both animes have many people that controll some sort of power, for Mirai Nikki its the future diaries and for Deadman Wonderland its the branch of sin. They both have a main male character whos afraid and not ready for the power they hold, have a female character following them, both are competitions to the death.
The male protagonists start off as whiny, nervous wrecks once they're thrown into life threatening situations and against impossible odds, but eventually grow some balls.
Both have a main character that is a pathetic and whiny cry baby, as well as a horribly annoying love interest.
Also violence and crap.
Both are hards. However it is hard to explain in English. I totally love both main girls.
I can fell the same sensation of reality and the same emocion when I see both.
Both main characters start out pretty weak and after a while get the hang of things as they move along in the twisted fate that was cast upon them.
Both are almost the same, a survival game of life and death. Even the characters are much alike. Overall if you are looking for an anime with thrill and excitement and bloody, I recommend to watch them both.
Same artstyle, the main characters are basically the same person, and very similar story. If you like one you'll like the other, because they're the same show, pretty much.
because both of them have as background a Survival Game
The gory wonderfully whacked out setting is a pure pleasure. Also the main heroins in both are complete yanderes
Deadman Wonderland is like Mirai Nikki but better. It's like Akira but better. It has the same dark and bloody aspect with twisted personalities and interesting back stories and an archetypally cute girl for a young boy who suddenly finds uexpected powers, but like gasai yuno, shiro is so much more than she seems.
both have main characters that are weak and are either romantically involved with or friends with a yandere that fight and defend them, both are survival tactic animes (i.e. you have to fight to survive), and both have awesome supporting characters that befriend the protagonist and help them in some way (uryuu minene in mirai nikki, senji kiyomasa in deadman wonderland)
One of the MCs is Yandere. The other MC starts out as a major "Beta" male but grows to become braver as blood, death and time passes by. These are two main things they have in common, but they both also have the "kill or be killed" kind of plot. Blood will be spilled, and if you're into that kinda thing, you will be into this.
Both are bloody anime and have similar characters (Yuuki - Ganta; Yuno - Shiro). The story of both anime talks about a group of people who have to kill each other. The relationships of YuukixYuno and GantaxShiro are similar.
both involve a life threatening 'game' of sorts , where the main character (school boy) is thrown into it unwillingly & is accompanied by a female companion who feels she must protect him.
As many of you above I too go for this same crazyness, not too much of my favourite as plot and telling style but still too many similarities with characters to miss this one out!
Both have crazyy crazyy bitch to kick HIS ass !!
Stomachable amounts of gore, good stories, main character pushes away female character
Both shows plots revolve around survival of the fittest. Both main characters are forced down a path that pushes them deep into the insanity of their lives that they must live and survive in.
I see so many recommendations for Mirai Nikki I dont have enough facepalms for it. I spend hours ( days even ) to search for something similar and the only thing I found was deadman wonderland. Dont believe other recommendations for the love of god ^^
Mirai Nikki is an excellent anime that has a storyline well-crafted and that makes you hate a character after you come to love them and then hate them again. At the end of the episode it leaves you wanting more, to see more and to know more. It has a little comedy bits, jokes here and there that really add to quality of the series but mostly is a psychological thriller that is rich in bloodshed and warped love story’s.
Both focus on gore-fests and shock values to amuse the viewers, and horror fanatics alike. The art style is similar too, and the main males have personality traits that are in common with each other. Both shows have a good survival feel to them, and characters that have mental issues. The only difference is Deadman Wonderland feels more unfinished than Mirai Nikki.
Both anime have main characters that are suddenly faced with a situation of life or death, accompanied by a girl with a dark secret.
-Both main characters start off as innocent students and have a power thrust upon them
-Both can't grasp how to use their power
-Both MC are protected by a strange female character
-they are both manipulated by a "higher power" to play a game of survival with others
-diary owners are similar to deadmen in that are chosen and can both be created on will
in mirai nikki. the main characters are very alike. they are both wimps who man up at the end of the film. they both develop a deep connection with the viewer. if you liked deadman wonderland, chances are you will like mirai nikki too. they are both gorey and have a similar cast. both have great plots with few plot holes.
+Both MC are weak
+Both are about survival
+Both protagonist are protected by a girl
+Both shows have a lot of blood and gore
Both Series involve survival of a weak main character and a strong girl protecting him.
It's almost the same thing. The main character begins from being and ignorant dipshit with a normal life and then all hell breaks loose. He meets a girl with mental issues who he actually has met before and she is way stronger than the main character. And someone loses an eye.
Character development is very fast paced from wimpy to hero. They are both gory and darker, but also have some comedic aspects to it. Mirai Nikki is more a comedy where as Deadman Wonderland is more a thriller/horror. Both star a yandere character, as defined by the anime community. Strong females. Both are highly recommended.
What I truly found similar with those two anime of confirmed distinguish topic is not only how the genres of blood, gore, dark, horror and devotion of hopes pops out from their veins to your eyes but how the interactions and reflections of the characters and the atmospheres of these anime links them together has pairs of pillars. The two main characters and protagonists of these series (Yukiteru and Ganta) have so much in common I would say they are the same. As well as for the support characters with almost same order or position in the scenario.
Main Characters start off weak and pretty hopeless. But they both start to build confidence further into the anime. Both have lots of murders with plenty of blood. Both MCs have a supporting female lead. And they both revolve around a twisted game where the MCs are forced to murder the other "contestants".
These two shows are similar in that they are quite dark shows, focusing on teenage characters as they are overcome with a similar issue (that means life or death for them) and follows them as they deal with the issues, with many sympathetic side-characters dying along the way.
Both the anime have mysteries that reveal themselves as the story progresses, and have an identical ominous atmosphere. The degree of action in Deadman Wonderland is similar to that of Mirai Nikki.
In Mirai Nikki and Deadman Wonderland both main characters get caught in a game about life and dead. The story differs as in Mirai Nikki one must become a God and in Deadman Wonderland they must survive in the sick games of the prison owner. Deadman Wonderland however is only half finished, for the full story you can continue with the manga.
Both anime have a psycho female character obsessed with the MC, the MC is given an unexpected power that forces him into a Battle-Royal scenario, in which the female characters will practically serve as their support during the whole anime.
Both anime are survival death games. While Mirai Nikki lets players use personalized Future Diaries, Btooom! gives them specific types of bombs.
Mirai Nikki has supernatural elements while Btoom stays on real side.
Main characters are incredibly dumb but Btooom!'s MC at least doesn't care about ethics that much which makes him more interesting.
Both Anime focus around a game that the members are competing against to win a prize. The problem... both games involve killing other people in order to win. The main characters of both Anime doesn't want to kill people either, which in itself is another problem.
Both shows involve intense survival games. In Mirai Nikki, players in the survival game use diaries that can somewhat accurately predict the future to be the last player alive. In Btooom, players use bombs to ensure that they survive. Btooom has more psychological elements to it, but they can both be considered psychological horror.
-Both animes are about receiving or meeting a third party to supply you with powers to fight in a survival game, and aim to defeat the opposing parties to win the game.
-Both contains romance, and is gorey
Both are survival games where a certain number of people have to fight against each other. While in Mirai Nikki a cellphone is used to guide the characters, in Btooom! it's used a radar located in the participants' hands.
Both involve survival where the players try to kill each other and both the winners are granted freedom.
Mirai Nikki & Btooom! have the real-life game to play . The male charaters at first are scaredy cats later on they become braver .
Although i haven't seen past ep 2 of Btooom, it turning out to be a 'survival of the fitness' type of anime - like Mirai Nikki. The first similarity i saw between the two anime were that each candidate are given objects and have to learn to use them to survive. In Mirai Nikki is was a future diary (in the form of a mobile phone or a scroll), in Btooom they are given a type of bomb. The similarities continue with the amount of bloodshed, explosives, stabbings and a deep history of the characters which has shaped them into the characters they are at the beginning of the anime.
Both anime have the setting where you have to kill others to survive.
Both anime involves playing a game of survival and whoever becomes the winner gets to survive. In the anime, many people's true nature were shown; their cruelty towards other people. The female lead falls in love with the male lead and assists him in surviving.
It's all about survival and games in both of these series.
In Mirai Nikki and Btooom!, the theme of survival horror is present and there are the "players" who fights for their lives. The main protagonist meets a female protagonist who both happens to be gamers in the series.
There is violence. There is blood. There is emotions. There is drama. Then, at times, there seems to be a little hope..
also very bloody and gory with a lot of crazy characters
People compete against eachother in order to survive (or in this case to not get killed)
a lot of sick stuff and twisted stuff, just like in btooom!
These two anime are similar because the characters are in constant life or death situations and it's all about surviving until the very end.
same thing here, but instead of them not being in a game they played, in mirai nikki the game starts by a being who got bored and wanted to see it so he can be intertained.
Generic survival game anime.
If you enjoy the idea of multiple characters fighting to the death with the aid of an inanimate object as your tool, whether it's a bomb or a cell phone. This is your anime to watch ^^
Both series are about a survival game forced on the main character.
While you use cellphones in Mirai Nikki which predicts the future there are radars in the participants' hands which locates the enemy.
Both anime are about a Battle Royale where random people are chosen to kill each other. This is either to become the next God (Mirai Nikki), or to simply stay alive. (Btooom!) Both anime are very well put together and are interesting from start to finish. In any case there will be a lot of deaths, lots of exciting moments and blood will be flowing, no matter which of these anime you choose.
In both anime a survival game takes place and the main character starts being a coward and ends up risking his life for friends.
-Both tells about characters forced to killing each other.
-They have to kill another people, or theirselves will be in DANGER.
Both anime revolve around the the characters playing a survival to the death game against others players resulting in a prize. The players were all pushed into the game under their will and the only way out was death. In Mirai Nikki, the players used a diary to help them that could tell about the future, and when the diary breaks they die. In Btooom, the players use different kinds of bombs and have a use radar to locate the characters They are both full of blood, killing, betrayal, companionship ,and romantic scenes.
Both have the thing which is survival of the fittest in this so called life or death situation game
- Both Need To Compete.
- Both Need To Kill Others To Survive.
- Characters From Both Anime Has Dark Past.
Both survival based, very good story lines and enjoyable characters. Btooom! is a must see if you have enjoyed Mirai Nikki.
almost same .. kill or die
Though Btooom! has bombs instead of supernatural phones that predict the future, like Mirai Nikki, they both revolve around survival as a theme and are about ordinary(ish) people that have to kill each other as per the rules of a game that the main protagonists are forced into playing.
Both main characters are socially withdrawn, reluctant to kill, and they fall in love with the lead girl (although you'll see that Himiko's and Yuno's personalities and roles are quite different).
Both also feature an interesting cast of characters ranging from cunning to crazy.
If you enjoyed either series, you will enjoy the other.
Both anime are survival death games. While Mirai Nikki lets players use personalized Future Diaries, Btooom! gives them specific types of bombs
Mirai Nikki, and Btooom! both are survival games, the contestants in must fight to the death. In Btooom they are given Bombs that are called BIM's, they are given different type's of BIM's and a scanner each. In Btooom! you have only a Limited amount of BIM's the only way to gain more is by killing a contestant your self and take their BIM's. Similar to Btooom's BIM's and scanner in Mirai Nikki the contestant is given a future diary, they are varied like the BIM's in Btoom!, the future diaries predict the future but your future can change from other diary owners having it also work like the scanner in Btoom!. Both Mirai Nikki and Btoom!
are darker shows, you get to see how people react and struggle when their life is completely changed and placed in a alien like environment, both shows are also
worth the watch!
This is my first recommendation that i have written I hope it was helpful and not a waste of your time, have a good one.
Reality game. Both anime has similar plot, where MC forced in a game that he can kill or killed.
If you enjoy watching BTOOOM!, I very recommend this anime
Both are survival anime. There's also romance between the male and female protagonists who work together to win the game. People also lose sanity in both anime. Both anime are also have pretty cool and gory deaths.
Btooom! and Mirai Nikki (TV) have the same psychological feeling to them. They both have people turning on, betraying, and allying each other. They are very similar since both anime feature a survival "game". If you liked one, you would most likely like the other.
Both are about people trying to make it out alive in a survival game.
Both protagonists are socially withdrawn at first, but slowly develop self confidence and become more outspoken throughout the show.
They are the same except in this one all you need to live and get back home is you have to kill 7 people. This is based of a game where you have to use bombs there are tracker bombs, timers, fist contact, dark hole, trap, and smoke acid bombs. The bombs are like the diarys in this anime. There is a love interest. There are 30 ish people playing the death game. Hope this help you thanks for your time.
Survival, trust, and competition, a death match game involving competitors to frag people to complete or escape the game. As the quote says when in this dangerous situation; 'It's every man for himself." This can be a quite the challenge for the main male character, not by a death game, but also a female character is added in their life who mostly help and escape this death match. Expect some plot twist, romance, and strategies that they will use throughout the show.
Btooom takes place on an isolated island where competitors frag other people to escape. Mirai Nikki uses a phone to tell future events and uses it as an item to fight competitors.
If you're looking for an anime in which the characters are placed in a survival game and this anime
Kill or be killed, that's the number 1 rule in both of these animes. But Btooom has less bloodbath scenes than mirai nikki. And i recommend to read chapter 51 of Btooom after watching the anime.
Both Anime focus around a game that the members are competing against to win a prize. The problem... both games involve killing other people in order to win. The main characters of both Anime doesn't want to kill people either, which in itself is another problem.
They are both anime about surviving in a game that they were forced into. If you liked Btooom!, you're sure to like Mirai Nikki.
[x] Characters driven to insanity
[x] Survival Game
[x] Mature themes
[x] Action by Reaction
Watch Mirai Nikki if:
You want to follow a male lead that acts more human-like. You want a colourful cast of side characters that each have their own complexities. Interested in more of a science fiction-feel. & would like to know a good definition of a yandere character.
Watch Btooom! if:
You want a survival game to follow more of an online video game. Don't mind character development via flashbacks. Would like to see more crazy than normal people. & would like a main character that isn't a "wiener".
Both have a "deathmatch" element and focus on eliminating your opponents using your wits and unique power (Mirai Nikki) or equipment (BTOOOM). Both are psychological and full of action and suspense! Mirai Nikki and BTOOOM both have a romance element and good character development. Both are "must sees" for any lover of action, strategy and psychological anime!
- Both survival death games
- Both have a female protagonist who loves the MC
- Both contain a dark plot
-Female protagonists have different personalities
- Mirai Nikki is more supernatural, where as Btooom is more realistic
- Mirai Nikki has more Bloodlust
- Btooom is more about the two main MCs romantic development, where as in Mirai Nikki its more about the female MC obsessing over the male MC
Both are survival games. The contestants must kill each other in order to win the death game, and in return they are rewarded if they win. Both series have a lead male and female protagonist that work together.
Both are real life game , only the strong survive.
They're both survival anime.
They're both romances at heart, with the two leads getting together.
They both have very unique and memorable characters.
And they're both pretty damn enjoyable.
Overall, Mirai Nikki has better plot twists, and Btooom! is a tad more realistic with respect to the psychological damage that comes with a death game, but if you liked Mirai Nikki, I'm positive Btooom! will keep you wanting more.
In both series the main characters participate in a survival game.
In Mirai Nikki their tool to win is their diary and in Btooom! their bombs.
Both series' are blood spilling action genre, with bits of ecchi scenes in some episodes.
Both series' main male protagonists fights for survival in order to accomplish their wish.
while the main female protagonists differ from each other, one is can kill mercilessly while the other fears men and somehow hesitates to kill.
Both series' story revolves on survival and trusting on one.
The main character in both, Btoom and Mirai Nikki, are stuck fighting against other humans. There's betrayal, violence, and a lot of murder in each. However, in Btoom they're stuck on an island whereas in Mirai Nikki the whole world is their playground to kill the other players.
both main characters have very little social life's and are forced into a game where they have to fight people to the death .at the start they don't know its a game of death .in both anime they resist the game and chose not to play it. but the other contestants force there hands and they must change to survive .in both shows the characters get a heads up on the enemy's . movements in btooom its a raider and in mirai nikki it the future dairy's .each person has there own advantages btooom different bombs in mirai nikki it different dairy's . this gives each person a unique tactical advantage .the only real difference is that in mirai nikki the main character is scared needs protection and in Btooom the main character usually ends up protecting people ........ that and mirai nikki has a psychotic love interest .you know the best part of that show. but aside form that basicly mirai nikki is a scifi version of btooom.......and if it helps the main character in btooom considers doing bad things to the main love intrest ... :/ BTOOOM's still good watch it. not as good but. watch it mirainikkibetter ............................................................................ WHY WOULD YOU READ ALL OF THIS ...................................................... WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE . IM CLEARLY WASTING TIME YOURS AND MY OWN ... bye :)
Both Mirai Nikki and Btooom!, have the survival game aspect in them. Both also give the players in the death game, powers. In Mirai Nikki, Future Diaries, and in Btooom!, bombs. Btooom! is slightly better than Mirai Nikki, in the fact that it has a slightly more tolerable main character, and is more of a mature anime. Plus, it doesn't have as many Plot Holes.
Violent, edgy survival game anime that have the characters using unconventional means to fight (in Mirai Nikki they use supernatural phones and in BTOOOM they only use bombs)
In both animies the main character and a girl have to fight in these survival games! While Btooom is on a deserted island, Mirai Nikki take places in a city. Both the main characters at first are reluctant to kill people, but realize they are going to have to, to survive.
Both anime have a game of death theme in which a female and male protagonist work together to survive and win the prize.
Both animes revolve around a survival game. In Btooom! the characters are sent to an deserted island, but in Mirai Nikki the game takes place in everyday society. The participants are either armed with bombs (Btooom!) or a future diary (Mirai Nikki). Apart from the story, these two shows have somewhat similar main characters. There's a boy and a girl, suffering from some kind of social phobia and/or mental disorder.
Similar story line, people who are stuck in a survival game and are trying to win. The main characters spend lots of time together and get to know each other better... So on..
Users with cellphone in a survival game aiming for the top to be granted supremacy.
Indeed similar, while watching Mirai Nikki it brought me back the feeling i had when i used to watch Higashi no Eden.
Both series are action and mystery genres, as well both share an important point of the main line in the plot: a teenager (Akira for Higashi and Yukiteru for Mirai) received a "special phone" and has to somewhat change the world with it.
Akira has 10 billions of yen which he has to use to change Japan for good, as well Yukiteru has the diary of future which he needs to use in order to survive and become the new god of space and time.
Still, both characters, are introduced to play this "game" and have to pay attention to the other contestants who, of course, will try anything in their power to trouble them, or else worse, kill them; because everyone wants obviously win the game.
The strong action of both series will keep you very interested as to know what will come next, by each episode you'll watch.
If you liked one of those, it's highly probable that you will enjoy the other as well!
Both are games which involve life and death making players involuntarily participate and be the last man standing, making it all possible by special aid from their cellphones.
Higashi no Eden reminded me a lot of Mirai Nikki. Both are really interesting stories about 12 people in a "game." Using their cell phone, one of them will change the world somehow while the rest will die.
They're basically the same thing, except Mirai Nikki has phones that tell the future and Eden of the East has phones that give you mad stacks.
Both contain 12 people involved in some kind of survival game with mobile phones however Higashi no Eden is less annoying
Owners of special cell phones participate in a survival game.
Mirai Nikki is the horror version of Higashi no Eden, in my opinion.
Both involve 12 players fighting to stay alive
Both involve players using their special cell phones to win the battle
Both involve a Mysterious mastermind behind the game
In both anime the main character is helped by a girl
They both involve strategy and planning in order to win the game
In both series the protagonist has a cell phone that change the fate of the world, and its played out like a game controlled by a "god" like being.
Both anime's plots involve a supernatural cellphone and a game, in which the winner dominates and the losers die.
12 people with special cell phones compete in a survival game in Japan. One of the cell phone holders watches the other eleven. One of the main characters loses their memories early on. The winner of the survival game gets a position of power.
They are 12 people connected in a game with cellphones with a battle royale outcome, only one can survive.
They are very different in animation style and way of storytelling but they are both great and if you love the 12 people+cellpphone+battle royale story you'll love both of them!
twelve contestants are given a cell phone that becomes their "tool to survive" - the last one standing wins.
When I saw Mirai Nikki, I remembered immediately Higashi no Eden.
The fact that they use mobile phones as a way to change the future - in different ways and with ambitions a bit different, but still this way. - Got me interested in both stories.
A plot well done, many great works.
The use of cellphones in order to see the events of other peoples actions in Eden of the east there is basically one diary with all the events in it and its always being updated but in Mirai Nikki Each Diary is different and corresponds with that persons physical and mental conditions.
Higashi no Eden and Mirai Nikki are quite similar. First, the plot are mainly based on a game that's used on a cellphone. Second, the main character feels lost in the anime and tries to figure out what to do. Third, people die; though, Mirai Nikki is more bloody.
a game played with cellphones for a select few humans
Both Higashi no Eden and Mirai Nikki have 12 individuals with phones (usually) that have something special about them. One major difference is Higashi's less supernatural and not a horror anime like Mirai Nikki. Also, it should be noted that Higashi ONLY has special phones involved, whereas the powers in Mirai Nikki don't necessarily require a phone...it just has to be some sort of diary (be that a phone, book, or what have you). Still, if you enjoyed the idea of 12 individuals getting thrown in a special (and oftentimes dangerous) situation against each other, or if you enjoyed one of these two, you'll probably like the other. Probably. :)
Both involve several people working against each other in a high-stakes competition.
Both series, through the use of cell phones and knowledge, allow for a total of 12 individuals to compete in a survival game. In Mirai Nikki, the objective of the game is to destroy everyone else's diary, or simply kill them, until there is only one person left standing. This final person, by winning the game, is granted the title of god in the place of Deus ex Machina, who is on the verge of death. While, in Higashi no Eden, the objective of the game is for the participants to "save" Japan by using the 10 billion yen that is on their phone. Both series are great and will leave you in awe.
both are survival games involving a group of 12 people who have cell phones possessing strange qualities that help the participant compete without giving them an actual supernatural power to fight.
both have shocking twists and turns that leave you wondering who is on who's side, and an ending that is impossible to grasp.
both manage to wrap up their stories in such a way that you are both surprised, satisfied, and left to wonder what will happen.
both have unusual romances for the lead characters.
Both story is about the main character gets a cell phone with awesome power and their mission is to change the world.....but mirai nikki is more of a horror genres and Eden of the east is more of a romance genres....my point is both anime are good and if you seen one you show check out the other
Both stories have "battle royale" theme. Participants using cellphones with special abilities.
Both of these animes contain cell phones with mysterious powers. Each show had 12 players and the goal is to be the overall winner of a game.
Mirai Nikki is more serious and sci-fi, Higashi no Eden is funnier and has a lighter feel.
Both animes involve a game of life and death , with unknown opponents competing for a grand prize. Both also use phones(or in mirai nikki case phones or something similar) to help them in their task. Mirai Nikki contains fantasy elements, with gore. On the other hand eden of the east is more realistic, and is not as graphic. Both animes though are definetly worth a watch.
In both anime we have a group of people who possess mobile phones that give them powers, and in the end have to achieve a goal even if that means killing the other mobile phone users.
replace the "future diaries" with lots of moneys and take the crazy stalker out in Mirai Nikki and you get Higashi no Eden!
Both are similar in a way that it is a game of survival and there are 12 contestants who don't all know each other.
Both of them consist of characters taking part in a survival game, with mobile phones as the tool to battle one another. However Mirai Nikki decides to portray this in a much more violent way, making you want to see how the Diary owners will fare in battles against one and other. Whereas Eden of the East pulls you in with a much more mysterious feel, giving you the desire to watch more to piece together the mystery.
-Both animes talk about a game between 12 person in order to save the world
-In the 2 series , the players have special phones that gives them special features ..
beceuse of games and mobile phones....
Both have light romance; both use cell phones in a quest to dominate and control the world.
Both have survival games where their cellphones have powers that help them stay alive. They both have some drama in them but for the most part Higashi no Eden is a Mystery while Mirai Nikki is a Horror/Action.Both female leads are opposites of each other and almost the same can be said for the male lead.
As others have said, they are similar! A game using your lives in Japan!
However, Mirai Nikki is a bit more... Wild and disturbing compared to Higashi no Eden, which is really cute and funny most of the time. Higashi no Eden is leaned more towards girls IMO.
They both are survival games. They both use cell phones in the game. They both have at least double digit enemies meaning at least 10 others besides the Protagonist. Both the protagonists are male and are friendly with a female. They are both action packed from the start and interest never fades.
Tournament to the death using special cellphones.
Mirai Nikki and Higashi no Eden both deal with a game where 12 contestants battle out (with the use of their phones) to determine one winner.
Both series were epic and awesome!
SURVIVAL GAME: The plots for both includes having 12 people gathered and given a special cellphone in order for them to survive. The cellphone is what identifies them as a player, fighting to win a mysterious battle.
Mirai Nikki is more horror, gore, and supernatural than Eden of the East as it is more innocent and has a lighter story.
Both have a great love story that will let you sail great ships lol
Both are a death games with the mobile phone as their primary tool.
Both focus on extraordinary mobile phones that have a massive impact on the plot. Both are survival games where the last man standing is the victor. Mirai Nikki and Eden have appealing art styles and amazing openings. There is also a romance aspect, even though Eden lacks the yandere element haha
Mirai Nikki ( Future Diary ) and Higashi no Eden ( Eden of The East ) are both very similar. The plots of both series is the main male character being sent into a real life death game were you have to kill the other players to survive. Both are VERY similar. The similarities are.....
- Both have cell phones as their weapons
- Both main male and female characters fall in love
- Both are plots are the same
- Both main male characters become more mature as the series continues.
- Both main female main support the male main
- Both have to fight to survive
If you haven't seen these series, I highly recommend it :)
While Higashi no Eden and Mirai Nikki are different in terms of character, they share the same idea of twelve people who are selected and forced to play a "game." The two animes also share the idea of the "players" having phones with a certain degree of power.
Similar in regards to the survival games played among those involved and mobile phones being used in the most part as the tool in which the player can use to obtain an advantage.
Both anime have some sort of death game, where the winner becomes very powerful. Both use phones as their main tool. Both have good romance. Both have badass characters (Mirai Nikki: Yuno / Higashi no Eden: Akira Takizawa) Both are thrilling and contain some spectacular plot twists :) A must watch!
Both anime are survival games where the players have to win using their mobile phones and then they can make the world better
-both have the "op cell phones"
-eden has a better romance, but mirai nikki has a romance(though creepy) too
- both main characters have the aim to take over a role that was formerly inherited by the initiator of the game
- neither yukiteru nor takizawa get arrogant/egoistic in spite of their power
-Both deal with individuals chosen for something
-Only one is supposed to survive in the end
-Involves the use of cell phones (for the most part) to do things
They are both Survival Games and There are 12 Participants who needs to use their cellphones to change the world. However only one shall be the winner and the MC also has a relationship with the female lead. Although The Female Lead in Mirai Nikki is a lot more "Clingy" than the one in Higashi no Eden. If you like The first one then you will like the other.
The core concepts of both these shows are very similar and at the same time very different. The concept of the cell phone as their main tool of survival and destruction are unique and similar between both series. The mystery of the game and the concealment of main characters through out each series with each having their own motive to save or kill each other is right along the lines of Higashi no Eden. I highly recommend if you liked Eden and what something that is very similar but with a refreshing twist and new characters, Mirai Nikki would be perfect.
The plot of both shows revolves around cell phones that citizens have been given and are forced to use in order to survive. The main characters of each discover new things about their respective "games" and learn how to function within them. Both shows contain an ultimatum that includes death as a possible penalty. Psychologically thrilling with a hint of romance, both series will have you on the edge of your seat until the end.
Both animes are are about a survival game and the number of players is the same-12.
-include a game with 12 participants
-have a device of some sort to use in the game (the Salecao phones for Higashi no Eden and the future diaries for Mirai Nikki)
-both have male a female leads where female is interested in the guy
-Mirai Nikki is more violent and has more gore
-the female lead in Higashi no Eden is not a killer
-different overall feel in anime
Both of these Anime deal with notes that fortell things. On one side, you have a strong male lead who writes the death futures, on the other side, you have a weak male lead who sees his own future predicted and his possible death.
Both series deal with a teenage protagonist given an unusual supernatural tool in an otherwise ordinary world and the moral dilemmas, mind games, and fights for survival that ensue.
They both involve common items that give incredible godly power, lots of death and violence, and a hot chick that hangs around the main character (who ignores them/uses them as a pawn). The real difference is that Yuno (in mirai nikki) is like a lvl 13 yandere, while Misa is like a lvl 3 annoying emo supermodel.
Both feature male leads who have a notebook/diary that can allow them to control fate
Two supernatural animes that feature:
- Loner teen boy who comes across as a snob to others holding the fate of others in his hands
- His 'diary' is something supernatural and he dare not lose it
- Blind loyal fangirls also feature in both
- Deceitful gods
Mirai Nikki = Death Note with a middle schooler. There's something about the feel of the two shows that's the same, as well as the animation of the OP (first here to second in DN). Yuno is like a badass yandere Misamisa, and Yuki doesn't (so far?) have Light's... questionable morals. Like... he tried to 'use' Yuno, but that kind of failed. =3=; And there's police, and 'diary that predicts the future' is eerily similar to 'notebook that causes the future death of people'.
Death note involves a journal/dairy that allows a person to kill (predict the death) of an individual. This is a psychological suspense anime as well.
Both have similar plot which involves future events. But nowhere a match. Its an insult to compare this to deathnote. But it is watchable due to artwork and fast paced pointless plot.
Mirai Nikki ,this anime remind me of the Great Death Note :Notes,Killing, god and a dream of being the new god, serial killers, smart detective ,and the girl love boy in a crazy way
Notepad decisive about life and death, the diary determinant for life and death, who cares? Also for using both of these notebooks thinking is necessary.
They are both really good psychological thrillers.
both have serial murders .
both have loner main character.
both have god / death gods.
both have woman obsessed with main character .
both have main character using the woman .
both have“text-tool” used to kill or murder.
both have few characters who are only visible to a few .
both the main characters are bored with the world .
both main character go to school.
both have some sort of diary and has power to predict the future/kill.
both have many genre in common Mystery, Supernatural, Psychological, Thriller.
both have detectives , police and serial murders .
both anime have the power to kill and to change the world.
both the main characters are bored with the world and they are drawn to interesting game or world.
foretelling future deaths with a common object
Both give an extremely similar feeling, even though Mirai Nikki is OBVIOUSLY the superior one.
Both anime give off the same kind of feeling and are full of suspense. The main female characters are pretty similar since they are both crazy in love with the main male character and will do anything he tells her to. Both main male characters, with the help of the main female characters, are competing against a group of people to try to find out the other's identity first.
Both are about dangerous 'games' in which characters must act as detectives and race against time.
Mirai Nikki and Death Note share some similarities with their supernatural elements. In both series, there is a god who makes the rules for the participants. Moreover, both series involve diaries that have to do with fate. Death Note is more on the strategic side while Mirai Nikki is more on the psychological side. Both are recommended for people who enjoy thrillers.
Mirai nikki, death note, mirai nikki, death note. Characters in both animes have close "perimeters" with death, deals with death, and include notes that literally have the supernatural powers to prognosticate death.
They're similar in regards to the entire 'NoteBook of Death/Crappy Blackberry Of Death' figure. However, the storyline, plotholes, suspense .. I can't begin to explain the details of such a revolutionary anime. Broke my #1 instantly!
Psychological thriller with teenagers gaining supernatural items.
they both focus on the cat and mouse game, the one who finds out the others identety dies. They both have great stradigy and tactics. antoher thing thats simular is that it's both really suspence, you know that addiction of needing to know whats going to happen next.
Both animes are psychological thrillers that involve some supernatural item and have several plot twists and insane characters. Mirai Nikki is more action oriented while Death Note is more of strategy than fighting.
Psychological thrillers with a lot of mystery, death, and competition for godly power.
they have a special notes and they both can change a lot of fates by their notes
Both Anime Have Similarities
-Loner Main Character
Both series are horror/mystery, both have objects that let them change the future.Death Notes strong main charcther does everything on his own to survive while in Mirai Nikkis weak main charcther has to rely on other people to survive.
-They are both about a death game.
-Have tools to help kill people
both are psychological battles with the main characters attempting to become god, also they are both awesome !!
Another Masterpiece that I loved a lot. The relationships are kind of similar here, so if you liked Mirai Nikki with Yuno and Yuuki, then you shoud for sure check this one out ^_^
both are talk about note , and same action
Both have a clever plot and are captivating. They also both deal with death and the quest to become a god.
Both have a dar/phycological genre and they both have amazing plots. Though with Mirai Nikki there is less gay moments and more wierd inapropriet moments.....hurray.....
both about power given to them by a powerful being, both about writing in a diary of sorts, and both about police trying to find the 10 diary users. the police officer with the diary reminds me of L
Death Note asks the question 'What would you do if you were given free license to kill by simply writing your desire in a notebook?'
Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) asks the question 'What would you do if a god gave you (and others) powers of foresight and promised that the last one standing would take over his place as god?'
Both shows have a competition among people granted supernatural powers who must use their wits if they want to survive. They also provide a dark plot with a few twists and pose philosophical questions about the justifications of murder for a noble goal. The main characters find themselves taking advantage of crazy and obsessed girlfriends. The primary, but notable difference between the two is the vast difference in the protagonists. Light is outgoing, brilliant, and set on molding a new world with the blood of criminals. Yuki is shy, at first glance is rather unremarkable, and spends most of his time trying in vain to avoid danger. They are indeed nothing alike. It is Yuki's obsessive sidekick Yuno who more closely resembles Light in deeds, wits, and sheer bravado.
thriller in both anime is quite intriguing and till the last episode each person just cant predict the outcome of story
Both shounen with crazy, badass characters that want to become powerful and hella amount of death/excitement. c:
Both deal with God characters influencing them to kill.
They are both Psychological warfare type shows, the only difference is Mirai nikki has a romance type thing thrown in. which i found to be a good thing.
Both anime follow really intuitive plot lines, with constant twists. They are both excellent interesting drama's to the very end. Aside from that they have few similarities, but if you like one you WILL like the other.
Mirai Nikki is a little Death Note, hasn't got the power of the characters of Death Note, but have a very original story with mistery and drama, with similar things.
Also Mirai Nikki is one of the most underrated anime
Both series have strange plot twists and a dark tone running through it.
A game of wits between several characters with a deadly outcome.
- Both anime have some kind of "God" in the play.
- The main characters evade death and kill other characters without hesitation, but use their wits to do that.
- Both have an overly attached girlfriend in them.
- In both anime you can find a device that is helping the main character (in Mirai Nikki it helps the side characters as well), but the thing is that those devices have flaws which the opponents have to discover in order to win or outsmart the main character or the other characters.
- The theme is a survival game in both anime, even if it's not that present in Death Note, but still there nonetheless, or better said, win at all costs game.
The basic idea is similar, but the storyline is different in every way (almost).
The recommendation is more like "what should i watch next?". Both are masterpieces and the stories are really unique.
The charactters hook you up and dont let you get away. Once u start watching it, there is no way u wont be thinking it the next day at work!
The big difference between those 2 in general is that Mirai Nikki has romance in it, and Death Note, well not even close to romance...
And another difference is that in Mirai Nikki you are living it.. In Death Note u are like an observer of the story and after the the 1st half of the anime u are living it too
Both series involve diaries, except there are major differences in how things are played out. Instead of the main character being strong and playing god, as seen in "Death Note's" Light, "Future Diary's" Yukiteru Amano is battling to BE god, or rather, survive the attacks from others trying to beat him to it.
The parallels between the two are strikingly clear, although both series take off in different directions. One harnesses the power of death, while the other makes its plays by attempting to avoid it.
Both anime are kinda "self insert" but truly epic. Both have male main character with supernatural powers that are used to become god. They also have heavy story progression with practically no fillers and a lot of cliff hangers between episodes. Also they are both relatively dark and feature heavy character progression.
Honestly if you haven't seen both I'd recommend to watch them asap.
-both has a God involved, giving the Male Lead powers to change their destiny.
-both has a Female Lead with same powers but uses it to help the Male Lead achieve their goals.
-both has a good detective trying to work out a solution to the problems at hand.
-Death Note keeps the murders (gore stuff) a little bit controlled and has less sexual intimacy around.
-Mirai Nikki has more of the murderous stuff (gore) and has a more sexual intimacy around.
Instead of a book of death the main character has a diary (cell phone) that sees the future.
These anime have so much difference and probably shouldn't be compared. However there is a few similarities - psycho guys and a thing in which you write :D... If you looking for a anime with psycho there you are. However these psychoes are different. Death note character takes all thinking and strategising on his own while in Mirai nikki yuki thinks and yuno usually acts. These things they use are similar but alsow different. Yagami uses death note to kill, yuki uses his phone to predict his rivals movements. So basically that's it. Start watching :)
Both anime center around a set number of people who are forced to play a game of killing one another in order to achieve a goal.
These series have much in common, first of all it's gender.
In both series the plot is about a survival game, where the protagonist have to do everything to survive, including killing other people.
The both Main Characters are ordinary boys, and suddenly got their life changed making them shocked about what is going on.
They also have "crazy" girls that have crush for them.
Both series have many participants on the game, even the design and the characteristcs of these participants are similar
The persons that control both games are "unknown" creatures, envolving a mistery about what will happen later on.
An ordinary boy one day certainly finds his life changed forever. That sets off the premise of this series as they as they are involved in a deadly game/test. Among other things, they meet other characters who are involved. All of them seems to possesses unique skills that defines their styles. They also meet a female character who seems to have an interest in him.
Among other factors, there is a sense of mystery regarding the master/god of both series and what they want. There is a theme of game/survival involved in which the characters are tasked with killing others.
Similar themes of Mystery, Action, Psychological and a bit of a Thriller. A battle royale where a select number of people have to kill each other (kill or be killed) in order to "win". In both Anime's, the main character is a teenage male who teams up with another character in order to survive.
•both are about a group of people who have to fight for their own survival to win there freedom, otherwise its a deadend/gameover for them.
•both are a battle royale where there is only 1 victor
•both have the same type of genres...mystery,action, psychological
•both show the the characters mental state as they develop new feelings/situations/friends as the story progresses and how they react to situations where the human instinct to survive comes into 'play'
•they are both the battle royale type of anime, so if youll like one you will probably like the other.
Its basically Mirai nikki in a school setting and with pedobear instead of Deus as the leader/creator of the game
In both anime series there is a some-what normal teenage boy who is thrown into a survival game. The only way to escape is to either kill the other players or to die. In both Mirrai Nikki and Danganronpa the main character teams up with the most popular girl, and they try to survive the death game together.
Similar MC(both are pretty much Shinji Ikari) who are stuck into a survival game, and get help from one of the most popular girls. If you liked Future Diary you'll like DanganRonpa.
Both survival-esque themed anime with both having semi-original plots and very likable/dis likable characters
In both of the anime the plot is about a game where the main character have to survive and the only way to win the game is by killing the other players. While In Danganronpa they have to kill each other without getting caught.
In both of the animes the main characters suddenly gets himself in a game which they didn't want. Also in both animes the main character are ordinary people and forced into a game they didn't want to be in.
In both animes the host of the games are unknown beings which you learn later in the anime.
Both anime focus on the theme of survival and both involve moderate amounts of blood and death, however Mirai Nikki is a lot more graphic and "realistic" if you like in the way it goes about presenting the death of the characters. They both have a mystery aspect to them, DR focusing more on this than the actual murdering, and both have a group of people who are unwilling to kill in order to survive against a group who are willing to kill in order to survive.
A survival game where you proceed forward by killing the other players.
Mirai Nikki - The game is controlled by God and the winner gets his title. The players are free to roam the world or area to look for other players and defeat them. Also has an interesting romance to it that is rewarding in the end if you watch the OVA. =)
Danganronpa - The game is controlled by a damn psychopathic teddy bear. His motives are yet to be reveled at least in the anime, not sure about the game. The setting is an elite school from which they cant escape.
Dark, sad and thrilling to watch. Go ahead, you wont regret it.! =)
They both have a story that is a battle royale style, being that they are both like kill or be killed.
Both main protaganists are represented as innocent through out the story.
Both also have a sense of mystery, Mirai Nikki being that its the mystery of other peoples future diaries and Danganronpa being that its the mystery's of murders etc.
Both share the themes of psychological and horror.
Both are about having to kill others in one giant game. The mystery behind how the killings happen and/or who did what make both really good anime. I prefer Mirai Nikki, but they are both good!
- both anime involve a calm boy main character who trying to survive againts people who try to kill each other in order to achieve something .
in mirai nikkie they need to know who is the person they need to kill , in dangnronpa they need to know which one commit the murder.
- in both anime the responsible for their situation have some kind of court to discuss things.
- both male MC have a girl by their side.
It is survivals "games", characters must kill others to win.
Well what can I say, they're both survival games whereby a number of selected individuals are required to kill each other for various reasons. And also both are bloody. :>
Both have situations where one must kill another to live, in Mirai Nikki, it's to become the God, and in Danganronpa it's to get out of captivity. The characters use their brains to survive.
They both have the characters play a game - one where the characters must try and kill each other in order to survive.
Although Mirai Nikki does take this theme to a more public level, both of them have most of the characters as just ordinary students who's life has completely changed ever since the 'game' has started.
Some will die, and some will survive - or, maybe none at all. Watch the TV show to find out.
Both of these Anime have the concept of 'kill or be killed' and the the last person standing wins. They both involve killing other characters whether they liked it or not.
In Mirai Nikki each person had to keep their identity hidden in order to stay alive without the fear of death. In Danganronpa the person who committed a murder had to make sure no one found out it was them... also in order to stay alive.
Both are pretty bloody, although the blood in Danganronpa is less realistic.
In booth animes, the characters will forced to play a game of killing one another in order to achieve a goal, with a nice and huge plot you will definitely choose a favorite one and support him, the story is very good and worth it to watch with no doubts
Murder is the game. Survival is the goal. But wait, there can only be one winner?!
In both shows, a large handful of characters are forced into playing a sick and twisted game of "last man standing wins." Both character sets are very diverse and unique, making for two great casts. Of course the main character is a more noble young lad who doesn't want to have to kill anyone, yet is desperate to stay alive. Is there anyone he can trust?!
The biggest mystery is who is actually controlling the game?
Amazing survival game with a great psychological aspect but with more investigation and trials !
Both anime have a group of people locked in a kill or be killed survival game, but while Mirai Nikki focuses more on the relationship between the two main characters, Dangnronpa focuses more on the mystery behind each killing. Both anime involve school-aged protagonists and crazy psychos.
Both are a type of survival game where each individual has his or her unique "ability". They are set on to killing each other for a higher purpose, in this case to leave a school. There isn't much ecchi as merai nikki but the plot has same feel. Over all the animation is done great!
Both series will have you cheering on morally ambiguous or even psychopathic protagonists in violent confrontations. There's a bit of (usually dark) humour and exploring relationships between characters, including romantic subplots. Also, pink hair.
Lucy & Yuno (similarities: pink hair, psycho, past, family circumstances, love for main character, jealousy etc.)
Kohta & Yukiteru (same innocent character, relationship with main girl, lost memories, suffering)
similarities in general: a lot of blood, murders, unpredictable, psychological etc.
-Both girl in the anime have split personality / one side good, one side bad
-Both girl in the anime have pink hair
-Both girl in the anime have been through a tough time in their past
-Both girl in the anime have a guy they love and want to protect with their life
-Both anime are very dark, exciting, and keeps you hooked on the first episode compared to the other ones
-Both anime has a lot of blood
-Not a clitche.
Both Mirai Nikki and Elfen Lied are pioneers of the yandere character type, and in both, the destructive nature of the main girl's relationship with the main guy is a main plot point. The feel of the anime is the same with a romantic tragedy vibe, and in general if you liked one series you should like the other.
Limbs fly left and right as people constantly get killed in and tormented in violent ways. Despite the bucketloads of blood however their are warm and heartwarming moments hidden deep within. Characters are not as they may seem but are still ruthless nonetheless.
In both anime, the female main characters are psycho with incredible murder skills
Both gory love stories where a pink-haired girl kills a bunch of people to protect her love interest.
Both are really graphic, full of gore and just enjoyable to watch.
Both are bloody and have a lot of gore in them. They're also violent and psychological. Both of them have more depth in the story as you watched them. Both are amazingly good with awesome heroines.
Both Elfen lied and Mirrai nikki pull you along into the depths of the anti-heroes spiralling insanity as you watch their encounters with other estranged or morally imbalanced characters. Elfen Lied has a large focus on uncensored gore whilst Mirai Nikki does not, But it is only to add to the story of each anime to add emphasis on the characters moral actions in each story.
Elfen lied leaves you at a cliff hanger at twelve episodes and could use another season to finish it off (They should have waited for the manga to finish first). Mirrai Nikki is a twenty six episode series with an ending that could look both sad or good depending on how you look at it (there will be an OVA). The protagonist in Mirrai Nikki may get on your nerves either really quickly or later on just by the way he handles his situation.
Both share pink haired female MCs who have questionable sanity. Both have lots of gore and romance.
Personally, I find Gasai Yuno and Lucy / Nyuu to pretty similar. They both have their innocent and fragile sides, but then they also have their mass-murder psychotic sides. Both animes are good for showing the development of the characters and their 'bi-polar' personalities.
Drip...drip...drip.. Ahhh, the sound of blood pattering on the floor from your hands. Your heart hammering in your chest just to see what will happen next as you start to cackle. Your eyes widen as you realize the one you love doesn't love you back. You'll KILL just to protect them! Mirai Nikki won't leave you crying on your hands and knees, but you surely won't be disappointed. You can call these animes similar, with two completely different plots. You'll be tearing at your skin to watch the next episode! Just don't forget to... breathe...
Romantic drama. Has lots of hardship and also makes you think. Kinda like a mystery
- Both main female characters are pink haired, violent, 2 personalities (good and bad), have guys they want to protect, had a tough past, jealous, in love with main male character.
- Both main male characters are innocent, is suffering, boyfriend of main female character.
-Both anime is bloody
these series both have a very macabre tone and setting. Rampant violence is frequent, and disturbing sexual content is present at times. If you enjoyed Mirai Nikki's exploration into human nature, and especially the mystery of each character's pasts, Elfen Lied is undoubtably up your alley.
I think that two main characters are alike. They both love one person and are ready to do everything to protect their loved one (even kill dozens of people), and they are cruel to the outside world. Also, the girls' appearances are similar.
Pink haired psycho characters that can go from in love to insane killer in seconds.
If you want a mature show with serious gore and shocking events these shows are for you. They both have frustrating protagonists but a great supporting cast. These shows are extremely brutal, viewer discretion is advised.
They both are revolved around a psychotic female role, followed by a male role who is trying to help them.
Elfen Lied and Mirai Nikki let you think about life. Because of the things the characters went trough, or the ending (especially the ending of Mirai Nikki) They're both bloody and you have to understand EVERY single thing that happens before you can truly understand the series. Also they have both kind of 'dramatical' endings cause you don't know what happened after.
I recommend Elfen Lied and Mirai Nikki to people who love bloody animes with a good storyline in it.
Horror type, have a pink hair main girl that are a murder, have a helpless boy, have a beautiful art and there tell about a type of love.
there is a main girl with four invisible hands that it like killing machines, there is a boy who in very friendly with girls, the story is very good and there is a little of Harem.
It tells about twelve peoples fighting to be the god of a world, the main girl is a crazy murder of ~16 years,I really like this anime because...discover yourselves this anime.
And in my opinion both need to be 9/10
Both have a very different couple: an assassin woman and bit stupid man. Many fights, blood, and well developed stories, with an unknown past coming to light in a surprising way
Both series involve a pink haired "Yandare" girl, who is in love with a vanilla protagonist and will kill anyone and everyone to protect that relationship. Both series involve insane amounts of gore, nudity, emotional low blows, and shock factor. If you liked the simple blood, boobs, and kawaii yandare aspect of Elfen Lied, but don't care for pretentious pondering or any attempt to be profound or artistic then Mirai Nikki is for you.
If you liked Mirai Nikki you will probably like Elfen Lied. Both have great story lines get at times are gory. They are both two of my personal favourite anime's although not appropriate for younger ages.
-A lot of gore
- A split personality girl protagonist
- Nice soundtrack
-Both girl main character are badass with pink hair!
-Both are really gore!
-Both genders are Action,Horror,and psychological.
