You may like The Legend of Black Heaven if you have seen Detroit Metal City other way around I don't know as Detroit Metal City feature very bad language and sick humour. But both animes contain music in rock genre, the main characters also have two kind of life style or personality and they have some problem with their relationships too while they performing or what ever it calls.

Both have rock music, and they tell about epic scale scifi stuff that happen mostly in the background, focusing mainly on the main characters and their lives. They both also have humor, though very different styles.

Both shows have 13 rather slow-paced episodes, plus both have a "last decade" look because they are from "last decade or rather." NieA_7 aliens are just there for some reason and The Legend of Black Heaven aliens are fighting a war in space close to Earth that is just there for some reason, so these aliens may be too much like humans but they're total oddballs as you may or may not be able to expect. Yup, it's all very nice...

Both have men who play guitar to solve intergalactic conflicts.

They have the same mood: both slice of life anime about music and friendship, since in both there’s a group of friends who build up a band together. Both also have some romance and comedy. Also, both of the male protagonists are called Tanaka.

Both are (mostly) set in space, have great music, and have a beautiful, seductive woman with that certain awesome hairstyle (Faye/Layla) who develops feelings for the male protagonist (Spike/Oji) even though he's already taken.

Classic nineties anime that are simply different from the rest in both story and presentation. SEL is darker, while KO more comedic, but they are amazing adventures that you should've seen at least once in your life.

If you liked how the spaceship battles and spacial issues were handled in The Legend of The Black Heaven, there's a probability you'll like Top wo Nerae. Though this one hasn't a outstanding Hard Rock soundtrack, the plot is awesome.

Both are about grown man that gave up on their dreams and have a 2nd chance. Both have comedy, though Black Heaven is a sci-fi series about rock.

The Legend of Black Heaven and Battle Programmer Shirase were made by AIC, both are comedies erring on the ecchi side, both have similar art and animation, and rather unusual premises. It's hard to say which show is better than the other, since I have a very solid, even impression of both. I can't even choose which sleepy, bored looking main lead I like better, since they both are two of a kind. In my opinion, TLBH and BPS tend to have a Napoleon Dynamite atmosphere sometimes with a kind of sleepy, mundane, awkward mood but with moments of pure randomness, funk,  read more
