SynopsisCrayon Shin-chan follows the wacky antics and adventures of five-year-old Shinnosuke "Shin" Nohara and his parents, neighbors, and friends and is set in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
Many of the jokes in the series stem from Shin-chan's occasionally weird, unnatural and inappropriate use of language, as well as from his inappropriate behavior. A typical gag involves Shin-chan confounding his parents by using the wrong phrase for the occasion; for example, saying "Welcome back!" instead of "I am back!" when he comes home.
During the beginning of the series, the TV show was mostly based on the storyline in the original manga. As the show progressed, more and more episodes became anime-original.

My opinion may not be shared by most of MAL users, because Crayon Shin-chan is rated PG(-13) in American countries and is for "Everyone" in my country, so everybody here sees it as an anime destined to children.
I'm not going to write a long review for this one, it's going to be plain and simple. Shin-chan is a 5 years old boy that disturbs every one, he's obviously and logically childish, he's pervert, addicted to television, his mother is really incredible to stand this impossibly irritating little boy. The show is full of under-the-belt jokes as well as troubles between adults because of Shin's way of telling stories to others et cetera.
It's simple fun, and manages to stay fun. It is a long-running anime full of fun.
Note for those who read the manga but hadn't seen the anime, they are totally similar. read more

Are you a big sucker for retarded/crude humour? Do you enjoy watching mindless entertainments that are one gag after another? If so, then this show will surely please you.
Story (1): The plot-line is thin, or rather, non-existent. To cut it short for you guys, the story revolves around the adventures of Shinnosuke, a perverted five-year-old boy who makes the lives of the people around him a living hell with his quirky behaviour and brutal honesty. Despite not having a running story, this anime never ceases to amaze me. Every episode is a brand new story and is simply refreshing and relaxing to watch.
Animation (8): The animation is, for lack of a better word, rather special. It is done in a very simplistic and almost ugly kind of way, which fits the mood of the show perfectly. The entire series is a giant joke, and the animation does a fantastic job at illustrating it.
Sound (8): Once again, just like the animation, the music itself is nothing impressive, but contributes extremely well to setting the whimsical ambiance of the whole show. Fairly catchy.
Characters (8): The characters are all very likable and portrayed in a very stereotypical way (which is by no means bad), except for Shinnosuke and his old man. They are the main attraction of this show, and together, their combined IQ is as low as my shoe size. Insanity is bound to happen with those two goofballs.
Enjoyment (9001): Yes, it’s off the charts! Each episode never fails to make me crack a smile. The characters always find themselves in some crazy random and fun-filled scenarios, which is to be expected from a comedy show. That’s OVER 9000 for personal enjoyment! After all, a not-so-serious anime calls for a not-so-serious review.
In short, Crayon Shin-chan is a compilation of mindless gags. If you have too much free time on your hands, then I heavily suggest you giving this anime a try.

both have similar styles, stupid characters, and the jokes are simply "under the belt"
but ebichu is a bit more... explicit
Do you like perverted jokes and taboo humour? Then you'll like this shows. Ebichu being the more obscene one of the two, is, I warn you, drenched with blood, violence and pervertedness. Neverthless, I laughed out loud the whole show. Crayon Shin-chan is almost the same, only a bit more on the PG-13 side...
The artwork is pretty much the same and Ebichu seems like a animal version of Shin-chan.
