SynopsisWhile the title suggests a story of simple, everyday school life, the contents are more the opposite. The setting is a strange school where you may see the principal wrestle a deer or a robot's arm hide a rollcake. However there are still normal stories, like making a card castle or taking a test you didn't study for. |

This is my first review ^-^
In a lot of ways Nichijou reminded me of Lucky Star, it is an absolute Slice of Life anime with a bunch of girls living life, First the girls do bad on their tests and try cheering each other up, then there is a little girl who doesn't want to take her medicine so the talking cat tells the other girl to put it in her snack (Flan) it was very cute and the ending of the show has the 2 girls from before and another girl who ride the train rather cute and random. All together I see this anime as having intentions of being cute, a little funny, and just showing a couple of girls having fun and living life, and the enjoyments of life in general.
Story: 7 (there really wasn't a solid plot) (Maybe the TV series will have a plot?)
Art: 8 (Just normal art, but i liked the animation of it)
Sound: 9 (I liked the music and Ending Songs the most, and the audio was fairly clear)
Character: 9 (the characters are almost instantly lovable and cute to begin with)
Enjoyment: 8
Overall - 9
I'm excited to see what the show brings in the TV anime. ~ read more

I am of course quite a bit of a Kyoto Animation fan as they have made animes that made it to my top 10. Now it seems they are gonna do it again with another new series that definitely shows off its 'KyotoAni' elements and style!
(After reading this review myself... I've overused the word 'KyotoAni' definitely!)

I assume that people will think what i think of the story when i say Lucky Star. Yes, although this is just an OVA it gives off a similar feeling. This OVA of the Nichijou TV series has a plot much like Lucky Star OVA. It's a compilation of different stories that's sweet, cute and funny all at the one time. It's heart-warming and funny short stories are entangled with fantastic and whimsical elements that brings out the refreshing Kyoto Animation feeling in this OVA.

___|| ANIMATION ||___
Kyoto Animation will never produce poor animation! The animation is always great creating a reputation of charming stories and fantastic animations.

_____|| SOUND ||_____
Hmm... How would i describe it? It's like your typical charming slice of life piece of music with a touch of KyotoAni style. Hearing it will most likely feel nostalgic after watching a KyotoAni production a while back. The series feels like a break out into imagination mixed with slice of life because of the 'light tunes/melodies' being played.

___|| CHARACTER ||___
The characters are so adorable! Even the talking cat! This OVA alone was more than enough to totally reveal the characters personality. Of course as i was watching this, all the characters were in an outburst of energy and happiness that it feels like we know them so well and personally. Their weaknesses are cute and their strong points are hilarious! The characters imagination also seem to break out into the series reality making this episode a definite KyotoAni experience.

I really enjoyed this one. It's got that charm that you can't shake off and it warms up your heart just like what K-ON! did to me. xD Very cute series. I look forward to the TV series.

School life, slice of life, short stories bundled in one episode.
Same types of humor, same format. Both are slightly absurdist, although Nichijou is much more so.
Both are highly recommended in general.

similar character design, lots of emotion in the characters, both are slice of life's and both show the true enjoyment of living life and the small things in it. Both have instantly lovable characters.
edit: why recommend a SOL anime to another SOL anime, Because they are similar (DUH) It's supposed to be similar. It's a recontamination.
