Synopsis

Lina, Gourry, Zelgadis, and Amelia coincidently meet up again and begin to search for the Clair Bible. During their search they run into a mysterious priest named Xelloss who seems to know a thing or two about the passages they're looking for, but he tends to get them into more trouble instead of out of it. Furthermore, they discover that the Monster race has plans of their own, and as it turns out, Lina and Company just might be a big part of their evil intentions.

Slayers Next. I had heard good reviews and I enjoyed season 1 (Slayers) so I could not wait to dive into Slayers Next and my oh my what a improvement from a pretty decent season 1.

Story- Season 1 had bad pacing, season 2 paced itself so fluently and everything flowed. It's only 26 episodes just like season 1 and everything works, there's even more comedy in this season which I thought impossible but this season was hilarious. There was better battles and more of them. It was an upgrade I have nothing bad to say about it. If I have nothing bad to say you read more

Before we start I'd like to have one thing cleared and settled... I'll be reviewing this series WITHOUT comparing it to up-2-date standards. Why? I don't think that the series deserves to be mashed because of some quality flaws, that's one... and secondly... Well, there isn't a single series that could stand up to Slayers, even today.

But let's go off from the beginning...

NEXT is a direct successor to the first SLAYERS tv series, and a much better series at that. It gives you much less fillers, more action, funny gags and tons of enjoyment almost every episode.
The story circles around an old and incredibly powerful read more

One of my pet gripes with multi series anime is the tendency to make major production changes from one season to the next. The main issue I have with this is simply that there is a lack of continuity in the look and feel of the show once this has been done, even if the different series are equally as good as each other (Top wo Nerae 1 & 2 are great examples of two equally good shows that look and feel completely different).

Thankfully, Slayers Next doesn't suffer from any of those problems, and it's great to see chief director Watanabe Takashi (who also read more

Have you ever played a RPG or Dungeons & Dragons? You know where a group of adventurers gathers in a tavern to plan an attack on a nearby bandits hideout to retrieve a stolen treasure, treasure that may perhaps be desired by many influential - not necessary - people. Or maybe to rescue the damsel in distress that was kidnapped. Or to free a small, oppressed village from the clutches of an evil monster. Or would it be perhaps slaying a dragon that terrorizes the kingdom. Yes, that would be the world of Slayers.
A perfect, balanced group of adventurers, a team consisting of a mighty read more

Anime: Dirty Pair OVA
Aside from having humorous and adventurous women, both are sequels to their original anime; depicting a slightly darker tone and making improvements to their action scenes.

Anime: Magic Knight Rayearth
Magic here is the secret word, well atleast for the girls here while slayers is soo damn funny with a very good storyline, rayearth is more a serious plotline and summons magic beasts, both serie´s than can be enjoyed if u like this kind of genre from the old days

Anime: Hikyou Tanken Fam & Ihrlie
oldskool fantasy based anime´s with some simmilair style in the animation for its time.Slayers has like 5 main members in the cast , Fam& Ihrlie as a duo could easy have been sort of ´missing slayer members´ if your talking by personality ofc , it would be great to put them in a crossover!

Anime: Ao no Exorcist
-Both have a spunky and likeable protagonist.
-Both of them are reckless and crazy(Though Lina is the more craziest out of these two)
-They have supporting characters who are trolls.
I recommend watching the original, then watching this show

Anime: Mahou Tsukai Tai!
If you like anime about magic that doesn't take the whole thing all too seriously, then Mahou Tsukai Tai and Slayers NEXT are both good places to start. They are both comedy-based anime with the same sort of childish, amusing humour. Both are about magic too! The character types in the two series are definitely very different, but have the same sort of lovable character traits that will inevitably make for good comic material. I found the art style to be pretty similar as well.

Anime: Trigun
Lina Inverse and Vash the Stampede are both notorious for leaving a path of destruction in their wake as a result of fights. Though in Vash's case it's more of an unintended collateral damage thing that results even when he's pacifistic in his attempts, whereas Lina just goes all out in some of her fights.

Add in the delightful fights and humor and ensemble casts and you got a lot to enjoy. Slayers Next is the second season of Slayers, but you don't need to have seen the first season in order to enjoy the second. It'll just make more sense if you  read more
