This is the first anime I've ever seen that I would call random. I think the word random is overused when describing many shows but this show is random - random in a funny and fun way, but random none the less. Yes, I know the reading the manga would probably make it less random but that itsn't the point.
What the MAL description fails to convey is that the show is really just ten episodes of following a trio of dysfunctional people on a journey. It definitely suffers from a lack of plot, but it redeems itself because dysfunctional people on a semi-random journey can be really funny (the reason I stuck with it and suggest you do as well).
The journey has some vauge goals like revenge or finding something, but the goals are not the focus of the show - not that there is a focus to it aside from the before mentioned journey and the people who are on it. The themes of the episodes are to repetitive - just variations on Rahzel seeing and child in need and saving him/her with the help of Alzeid and Heat again and again and again. The story is poorly developed and ends up being disjointed - partly because it is so episodic. Many good shows are episodic in nature, but in this one the individual episodes rarely connected to each other at all and there is no transition between them e.g. random. This lack of buildup leaves the show with very little tension and almost no climax. Major parts of the story are never explained (for example how or why people can use magic is never addressed), although I assume the manga which I haven't read contains more detailed explanations. The show proceeds as if there is no gaping hole and you have the needed information to understand what's going on which makes it rather confusing at points. Several times I was left wondering either what the heck is going on or why on earth would this be happening.
The characters are amusing if not not well developed, and their banter will keep you laughing. Rahzel comes dangerously close to just being annoying -privileged 14 year old girl need I say more (?), but stays on the likable side by a small margin. Alzeid is a pretty great character, and really adds to the humor. The dialog is pretty fast paced and witty which is the biggest redeeming quality of the show. The lack of charter development is a little problematic, but somehow it mostly makes them seem disgruntled which adds to the humor of the show. The people introduced in each episode mostly do not have any real connection to the main characters and are only occasionally used to illuminate something about the main characters past, so in the end you have a random assortment of people who have not contributed to the plot. You find out very little about the main charters' pasts or even why they are traveling together which is kind of ridiculous.
As far as the art and music is concerned it's nothing special but overall not bad. The character designs are fairly generic and a little goofy. The op and ed are pretty bad.
While the lack of explanation and development of the plot (if you want to argue there is one) can be frustrating, I still enjoyed the show mainly for its humor and wit. It's kind of a silly anime but may prove to be a fun watch. read more

Overall I think this anime deserves an 8.5 on my scale, but unfortunately there isn't that option.
Story: The story itself is fairly basic, but has some interesting back story thrown in every once in a while. However, the anime does seem rushed. I think a lot of people did not give this show a chance because the beginning is so chaotic. The first episode does not feel like an introduction at all, in fact you are pretty much thrown into the story.
Art: I really enjoyed the animation. It seemed to be well done (it better for being 10 episodes). Maybe, it is the little girl in me, but I appreciated that they changed the main characters clothes and hair throughout the show.
Sound: Characters voices were fitting. The music throughout the show was very nice and enjoyable. Originally, I didn't like the intro song but it grew on me.
Character: This is one of my favorite things about this show, but at the same time could've been better. Rahzel, the main character, was AWESOME. She had a great back story, was interesting, kicked butt and was everything I wanted her to be. However, the other characters could've been so much more. I really saw potential for interesting characters and there were definitely moments, but I think the anime just didn't flesh it out well.
Enjoyment: Basically this show just captured me and kept me hostage. There is such a great mixture of humor, action, and friendship/love that I kept thinking "I'm going to rate this a 9!" I couldn't justify that high of a score overall, but the enjoyment level was definitely a 9. read more

A beautiful girl with magical powers accompanies a mysterious bishounen with a mysterious past and a dark agenda on a journey. Compared to the girl in Hatenkou Yuugi, Hakushaku's girl is a little more timid and her powers are more passive than active (she can communicate with fairies, but she can't cast spells--at least, not as of the first episode). Also, whereas in Hatenkou Yuugi, the girl is genuinely a companion for her two bishounen friends, in Hakushaku she is more a servant of the duke, and at his mercy.
Female leads have very strong personalities. Both series are specific comedies with a lot of magic elements, bishounens and of course both are romance.
Both stories mostly made of romantic line as a background to some adventures. The main heroine doesn't seem to be taken seriously by main male characters. Btw th romantic line is partially indefinite (no clear-cut love and kisses ending for you).
Both main characters are lovable, and in both you can find supernatural beings ang lots of magic. Not to mention similarity between main male characters, in behaviour and irony. Although romance in Hatenkou is more hidden, one can also clearly see it, Hatenkou is also a bit darker in themes and plot.
In both animes, the female (main protoganist) has a very strong personality, insisting to achieve her personal aims, heartwarming, not the typical disturbing high-school girl; more the thoughtful person.
The two main characters as well share their two bishounen-surrounders, with whom she experiences a lot of 'adventures' - also romantice situations, though these are unfortunately just hinted. Both Females own some sort of magical power, though one is more physical and the other rather psychic.
For short: Both animes, just like the characters have got quite the same feeling and share lots of simlitaries and share quite the same genres (comedy, adventure, fantasy).
The characters felt the same and both travel with two guys on a adventure out of the extraordinary. both are great anime to watch

Mainly I think the producers had the same target audience for these 2 shows - probably 14 year old girls- and are in the same general genre. Having said that they're are pretty enjoyable with pseudo-dark plots and complicated relationships.
Hatenko Yugi, “Dazzle,” is a new anime perfect for those finished with VK. The three are in a very similar environment with mysterious, and yet at the same time elegant, fantasy situations that they must conquer while learning about the characters' intertwined and intriguing pasts that shape their personalities and actions now. The characters are also very similar to Yuuki (Rahzel), Zero (Alzeid) and Kaname (Baroqueheat). (The character of Alzeid even looks a LOT like Zero...) The mystery behind their pasts will keep you hooked along with choosing which guy is the best. The situation of dark fantasy adventure with the tsundere romance is strikingly similar!!
As it is produced by the same group as Vampire Knight, Studio DEEN, the animation and soundtrack is also top-notch.
The characters are very similar:
Rahzel - Yuuki
Alzeid - Zero
Baroqueheat - Kaname
Similar style and design.
