In the jungle, young boy Hare has his world flipped when his mom brings home a little girl to add to the family. Named Guu, she seems nice but within a day she becomes an absolute menace. Apathetic yet chaotic and clueless about human customs, she is like an alien masquerading as a kid. With powers like eating anything whole, her stomach being an extra dimensional space with another world inside, she can also regurgitate anything she eats.
Given the story ,the ... art has this surreal psychedelic nostalgia to it .
You may expect the comedy to consist of just 'hehe xd random humor"But it is actually amazing, somehow the jokes are built over the entire episode. Each episode contains 1-2 joke premises with many silly moments building upon it. each episode somehow influences future episodes yet are able to stand on their own based on comedy alone. However, there are episodes where this isn't true and the comedy just feels random without any substance behind it.
Comedy aside the character dynamics are fun enough to just see them interact with each other. An overly anxious but reliable boy, a drunk and sloppy mom, a demon troll girl with powers. That's even before the side cast of characters.
the characters (mostly side characters) are somewhat flat and can get old quickly, especially Hare is always just doing the same bit where he is surprised and the wild stuff GUU does. however, when they explore the characters and have a sentimental moments, it hits very hard

Story - 5
This is an episodic comedy, it's not story-driven, but that is not inherently a negative, and it's certainly not a bad thing on the case of this series.

Character - 7
Characters are consistent, memorable (not always) and very diverse. Characters are simple, with exceptions (yet likeable, with exceptions). The contributions from simple characters are usually good, but at one point one of the characters gets obnoxious.

Art - 6
The designs are better than that of the manga, to the point where the mangaka adapted the anime's design of the MC. The difference of the art's quality between ... the manga and anime is abysmal. Visuals are not the show's forte, but they're good enough as to contribute to the show's enjoyment.

Sound - 7
As a note, the dub changes the ending theme, which should also sound during ep 20 (that episode also has puns so i recommend watching it subbed).
The SFX simply works and doesn't get obnoxious. The OST is good (and i'm not just talking about openings and endings), but i'm honestly being a bit subjective there. The voice acting varies in quality between characters, with a few great ones really standing out (such as that of the protagonists), but overall it's fine.

Enjoyment - 9
Despite the aforementioned, it's comedy is still stellar, and it's overall a really enjoyable anime, but it might not be your cup of tea.
The comedy features well executed boke and tsukkomi, adult jokes that do not rely on ecchi nor explicit vocabulary (like you see on western cartoons for kids), good slapstick and puns in japanese, among other forms of comedy.
The first season of the anime adds a lot of content to the episodes, lots of stuff that didn't happen in the manga (it's a good thing in this case, since it's not useless filler, but extra comedy).

The order of events changes, and, while it's usually not worth mentioning, in this case it affects how entire episodes play out (not a negative though, it adds to the enjoyment of the series). The order of events is less impactful on future seasons, but due to one of these changes there's a scene in S2 which makes a character less likeable than it does in the manga.

Overall - 7
I personally got quite attached to the series, but, no matter how much you like it, i recommend a break before rewatching it (be it anime or manga).

This is the most hilarious show I have watched in a long time! Hare is really cute and I really feel sorry for him when Guu screws his life. Their personalities clash really well. Hare’s personality is a whiny little child who is always having to watch out for others and has a good grasp on reality even though he plays lots of video games. Guu… well… she lives to torture him psychologically and physically and pretty much screw with his whole life turning it upside down. Ya… that’s pretty much her soul purpose in this world and does amazingly well at that. Through the ... whole show, Hare is eaten by Guu(then spat back out), has his friends eaten (most get spat back out), had his village elder mortified when Guu steals his chest hair, and sees other random objects be put into Guu’s mouth and then spit out with no sign that they ever was in her mouth to begin with all with in a course of the first 4 episodes… If you think that is bad, you should see all the other things that happen throughout the rest of the season.

The whole thing gets even more crazy the farther along it goes with parodies from some Anime and true life happenings. It’s like the Alice down the rabbit hole symptom. The more and more you go, the more surreal it gets.

The animation feels odd and everyone has ‘chibi blush circles’ on their cheeks. It feels odd because most of the time, they look like shiny patches on their cheeks. Everything has a ‘runny egg’ feel to it, where characters squash and stretch in really odd areas, and their faces move in odd ways.

The English dub feels far better than the Japanese to me, Jennifer Sekiguchi (ha…. She has Guu in her last name… sorry, bad joke) captures Guu’s wonderful monotone that gives her an ‘I really don’t care what happens as long as I make your life a wreck’ attitude, and Alex Simon has a pretty good cute kid voice for Hare. I feel it’s somewhat ironic that Wendee Lee actually is the voice actor for Weda, Hare’s mother; though she does a perfect job making sure her voice doesn’t get to sweet since that’s not fully her character, unlike Kaoru Morota’s teenage high pitch whine (that’s just her character voice).
