Kirameki Project is an endearingly silly little show that manages to throw an old-school blue-collar mecha premise into a shoujo comic fantasy. Then it adds lots...LOTS of fan-service...lots considering its 13up rating. Due to all the skin, KP will probably appeal more to fans of Agent Aika, My Dear Marie, or other lightweight sci-fi sex-farces, rather than fans of mecha or shoujo. It is essentially a parody that, in my opinion, successfully develops, to the needs of this show anyway, 2 separate storylines, with 2 reasonably well-developed lead characters.
The characters in general are one of the stronger elements of the show, most of whom are likable cliches that most of us have seen dozens of times in other shows, but for the most part, they prove amiable enough here...did I mention fan service...anyhow.
The story itself is a bit of a throwaway that leaves a lot of unanswered questions, but I found myself not caring too much...you can read ANNs synopsis above to see how important the story is.
The animation, while not my favorite style, may be this show's raison d'etre (did I spell that right). I often felt the 3D CG mecha fights, obviously meant to be show-stoppers, were a bit obvious and didn't always fit in with the rest of the art...however, the comic timing of the physical gags was much to my liking and generally kept me smiling through most of the show...granted it's no Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi (thank God) but there was enough to keep me entertained.
The music was good all around, but I really liked the opening and closing songs...although admittedly, I think, they just fit real well with the animated sequences which I found funny enough to watch through all 5 episodes, a rarity for me.
Overall, I enjoyed the absurdity of it all. Not my normal fare but it was quite fun. read more

ART & SOUND SECTION: 8/10 [Nice boobies… Hey, wait a second; that’s a mecka!]
A fine example of recent ecchi and mecha anime with nice graphics … but nothing more to back it up.
The general artwork is like an otaku’s dream come true. Busty chicks, huge mecha and a world filled with mega corporations and fancy mansions promoting anime concepts. The setting itself is not realistic at all but it is definitely interesting if you are hooked into superficial anime. The animation style is itself reminiscent of several anime cliches. In fact, the entire series aims at otakus, so it does a great job of giving them anything wacky they ever wanted.
The characters look and are complete stereotypes.
Women are dressed with fetish cloths and have dumb expressions. They also show their undergarments on every chance they get.
Men look cool and have ridiculous ideals.
Mechas are the best part in the series. They are made with highly detailed 3D models and have a very good cell shade visual effect on them. They also look like every stereotypical model you can think of. The leading mecha alone is… a huge cute doll that also shows her underwear during battles.
Visual and sound effects were nice and funny. Motion fluidity was nice. Voice acting was mediocre.
STORY & CHARACTER SECTION: 2/10 [Break up people; nothing to see here.]
A team of rich women builds a huge mecha in order to stop a megalomaniac businessman who plans to... blah, blah, blah… Just excuses for fan service and pointless, flashy battles. Pay no attention to them. Just cardboards doing stupidities. The series is simply a mecka parody. No attempts to offer serious scenario or logical plot is given.
VALUE: 1/10, ENJOYMENT: 6/10 [A quick appetizer]
A mini series that advertises anime clichés. A quick and half-interesting title with zero chances of rewatchability if you don’t like anime parodies. It will mean a lot more if you are a mecka fan who digs anime parodies. I personally didn’t like it much but objectively speaking, it is good at what it aims at.
VERDICT: 4.5 / 10
Say something important… Good, now show us your bra… Nice! Now get into a mecha battle… Very good. Now take off your cloths… What a show, I love it!
SUGGESTION LIST
Gravion. A mecha series with harem overtones.
Gekiganger 3. A short mecha parody.
Excel Saga and Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai. Great anime parodies. read more
