I really, really, really loved LoveCom.
It was cute, insightful, hilarious and endearing. It was my most anticipated episode every week. I always wanted more. I want more now even though I know it's over!
The story is about the tallest girl and the shortest boy in class and their search for love in high school. It turns out they're both kooky, funny and energetic. They're also perfect for each other... too bad they don't see that. The story isn't complicated or new, but it was told so well that it crawled into right into that soft spot in my heart.
The romance is built slowly over time and by the end, you're head over heels for them because the creators did such a great job of laying down the foundation and actually showing you how their feelings grow over time. It's not like a lot of shows where all of a sudden in a haze of fuzzy lighting and rose petals, love magically sprouts out of nowhere. Instead, you see a friendship begin, a moment happens, interest blossoms, awareness grows... the whole nine yards. You really get to know Koizumi and Otani over the course of the show and I was rooting like crazy for them.
The characters are so over the top and out of control that it's hard not to laugh. They exaggerate, make ridiculous faces and they over-react to everything. It's really kind of hammy, but that's part of the fun. And it's refreshing to see a female lead who isn't some stereotype of a dominatrix-in-training or a weak, helpless nitwit. She seems like a real human being with strong points and weak points. She isn't afraid to get ugly and imperfect sometimes and I think it's really great that they made her (and, really, him too) full of all these flaws and not-so-attractive traits... and yet so completely charming and loveable. It makes them really... human. I would say that if you like the relationship (without the music and with a lot more actual focus on romance) of Nodame and Chiaki from Nodame Cantabile, you might like this too because there's a similarity in the way that the relationships go both ways and the strength that each of them brings to the relationship.
The art is great too. First of all, they took the time and effort to change the characters appearances day to day and give them all a sense of their own style, which I really appreciate. It's just really thorough and well-executed. I completely agree with YoshikoHatake, there is something about the style that brings Bokura Ga Ita to mind, even though the tone of the story is completely different (BGI felt a lot more serious and the colors and style reflect that somewhat, I think). Music-wise, it's also nice. I don't normally notice the openings and endings that much (I've always hated credits), but LoveCom's are really good in a perky, energetic kind of way, which suits the show perfectly, and I find myself singing along w/ the karaoke. ;)
Enjoy! =)
P.S. I really haven't seen very many romances that do this good of a job at being funny and sweet and tender and honest. If you have, I'd love suggestions! read more

At first glance you think this is one of those normal school romance, boy meets girl, girl meets boy, type anime. Well it's not.
It's a completely different take on the usual theory. A girl who towers over her crush, a boy who may be short and sees eye to eye with most other girls, still gets fans.
As Risa realizes her love for him, ever so slowly, she finally admits to it, but not only is Otani short, but he is very dense, too dense.
So now, Risa tries all she can to get him to be her boyfriend.
The story is very unique, with many twists and turns.
Even though it follows the same line as most romances, it steers off course into new territory. This is where the height differences come in, and the super cute girl gets a demonic aura. Not like most anime, right? And the dreamy boy she falls for is so dense, he thinks she was joking when she confesses, not at all like the usual.
The art style for the characters has similarities to other anime. Some very discreet, some not.
I notice there was some similarity in art to Bokura Ga Ita.
This anime's art style follows the original character designs as the manga, with extra color and exuberance.
The sound, well as usual they picked the best seiyus to voice the characters.
The opening songs are upbeat with great lyrics, while the ending songs, tones it down slowing down a bit, and giving it a bit more sweeter change to the end.
The characters even though their wardrobe changes through their daily lives, Risa's hair does as well. (Which I noticed had similarities to Bokura Ga Ita's Nana.)
The characters are developed as to go not so far into their past, but more along the lines to explain just what kind of person they are.
The enjoyment, it'll make you laugh, and if you have a soft spot for sad romantic scenes, it might make you cry. (Just kidding, nothing so far.) Or it'll make you cry for laughing too much.
Overall I give this a 10.

Both in Toradora! And Lovely Complex the male protagonist likes the female protagonist's friend. Comedy is similar, in some ways.
Both Lovely Complex and Toradora involve a girl and boy who act harshly to each other but then end up becoming friends and helping each other try to get together with their love interests. Eventually, the main characters began to develop romantic feelings for each other...
I adore both of these series'. <3
From episode one it was easy to tell who SHOULD REALLY be going out, even though they both try to go for other boyfriend/girlfriends (in each show), also making me having to cover my mouth in laughter so I wont wake up people and just about falling over from the hilariousness (is that even a word?) of it.
Those who like Toradora, will definatly find Lovely Complex as intersting, if not even more. Lovely Complex, like Toradora, has a misleading image at the start, but the same deep charater development in the middle. The plotline drives the watcher mad and leaving him wanting for more. The animation is top of the class, there is a wide range of many, interesting, and deeply developed charaters, and excellent voice acting.
both anime's main characters trying hard for their love, also height problem is there too ..(although by different genders)but both animes are really great ^_^..so sweet..hehehe
Both have a guy and a girl working together to get together with another guy and girl.
Both are high school love comedy with a lot of bickering between protagonists.
The main couple are very similar, as is the overall feel of the show. Lovely Complex focuses a bit more on comedy though (a very unique kind) and the romance happens much earlier on in the series.
Both of these animes have a guy and girl that initially hang around each other because of ulterior motives, but while doing so they slowly start to gain feelings for each other. Also both are romantic comedies that are in a school setting.
Are both Romantic, Slice-of-life school anime which share similar aspects in the dynamics between the main male and female characters. Storyboard seems to follow the same formula.
Main characters are helping each other getting together with their love interests, they become friends and in the end fall in love, both are crazy comedies (but LovCom much more)
Both are great school romance animes with nice art and characters.
Both are great romantic comedies.
Both series are romantic comedies about two people who have problems with love. Also they are dealing with similar complexes. In Toradora they are misunderstood for their looks and in Lovley Complex there are problems around their heights.
Also the humour and atmosphere are like each other. Funny, liively and energetic with a little drama ^^
Both of the female protagonist are really bossy. It's easy for the viewer to tell, as well as the two protagonist friends that the to mains characters should be going out. The comedy in both of these is similar. The only difference in comedy is from some of the dialect from Lovely complex since it's all from Osaka.
Both are a in a School Setting, both are great comedies and both give a suitable amount of drama.
A storyline which revolves around a similar idea: girl and boy who have a strange relationship try to help each other find love, but end up with each other.
They both have similar plot development.
great story and character development
The main characters are both trying to set each other up with one of their friends, working together. You can tell how it ends.
Series are similar in terms of plot. In addition, both series are full of humor and fun characters. Typical anime for girls.
How are they not alike?
1. LOTS of comedy & romance
2. the main girl and guy characters are always fueding
3. the main characters try to set eachother up with someone else in the beginning until.. :)
4. the development of the characters are similar
5. if you loved one youll definately love the each other!
:))
So called "Slice of life". Both are good romantic stories with a good humor.
Lovely Complex and Toradora are both great high school comedy series. They are about 2 people who are in love with each others best friends, and are helping each other to get them together. In the end, they both are falling for each other. It both contains romance and comedy. If you liked Toradora! you will probably also like Lovely Complex.
Lovely complex focuses on complexes between the two and mainly on the two main charcters' long road to love, while Toradora is more heartwarming and deeper stuff as they try to help each other to get in love with their respective targets whom they liked.
Lovely complex is a lighter version of Toradora imo, and lovely complex has more comedy and less deep moments than Toradora.
The later 1x - 25 episodes of Toradora seems more similar to Kanon 2006 though, because of the complicated relationships involved.
It showcases the struggles of ones image, and overcoming the stereotypes. They both show that love really does come in all ways, shapes, forms and sizes and when you're not looking for it, it'll sneak up behind you.
both animes are heartwarming and makes you sympathetic towards the characters--even the unlikely ones--at times.
First, they hate eachother. Then, their friends. And I think you know how it is going to turn out in the end.
It has around the same plot.
Romantic comedies which focuses two friends helping each other achieve their love interests.
At first both look like a typical high-school romance, however both the stories as well as characters are made so perfectly that they really stand out.
This has been done quite few times , why? because in both series the 2 main characters struggle in order to finally reach true love while there are obstacles in the way like cuter boys and girls ......
They're both funny love stories, and the main characters are sort of outcasts, and they get along because of that. Not too typical, but romantic.
Both are lighthearted romantic comedies with just enough drama.
At the start, a boy and a girl try and help each other out with the person they like, but instead end up falling for each other
Similar premise, and group of friends drama, comedy
Its very similar due to the fact that they got different height but alter in toradora but Lovely Complex
got tons of funny moments and focuses more on the main character love interest and meant to be love interest unlike Toradora takes a very long time but aside of that Toradora has unique display of storytelling.
Besides both being a romance, they involve similar plots. Two characters initially only there to help each other end up spending more time with each other. What seemed as just friends became more than that. Focus on main two characters and their hardships.
Both MC's try to help each other get their "loved one" however in both animes something incredible happens :D

Both Kimi ni Todoke and Lovely Complex both deal with a very awkward love between two individuals that progresses very slowly. And during the show, the side characters support the two main characters and have their own little romantic dramas. The characters and style of the show feel very similar, even though lovely complex is a little more comedic than Kimi ni Todoke, both have their funny moments...Sawako and Risa make the most interesting facial expressions!
As much as the characters are very different, they share the common theme of being really clueless in romance. Girl likes boy, meets rival(s) for boy, troubles of teenage life, and the jokes that come with them.
LoveCom is more comedy driven than KnT, but KnT made me cry more than LoveCom ever did. Either way, both are highly recommended anime.
Quite similar in many ways.
Similar character setups (different designs/personalities) for the most part. Girl and main guy, and girl's friends and their guy/boy friends
Main characters are contrary of themself. In KnT the girl is very sad and in unlike, closed for other. Main boy is opened for others and very happy and symphatic. In Lovely Complex there is a man with complex because he is low height and a girl with complex because she is high height.
They both have and funny and serious moments.
KnT is a bit better, but LC is not bad at all
The style is very similar. And I don't mean artwork style, but story-telling style.
Lovely Complex has a lot more comedy, but Kimi ni Todoke substitutes that by many heartwarming moments. By the end of both shows, you'll feel like missing something.
Lovely Complex is Kimi ni Todoke with guts.
High school dating theme.
Similar art style.
Romance.
Comedy.
Both anime are high school romance comedies, with one of the protagonists in love with a clueless friend. It should be noted, that the "chemistry" between leads is somewhat diffrent in both shows.
They both had a really similar feel to me. They both get serious sometimes, but they lighten up the mood with funny out bursts. And they both also have the exaggerated drawing styles at some points to make you smile :P
[ENG]
Excellent humor, romance, tricky cases the main characters, funny faces (in a good sense of the word)
That is why both animeshki advise to look! ! !
We can say that, there are similar main characters: in one case a girl like the main heroine of the call, so all afraid of it (and it is not wanted it), in another case, the girl is tall and she could not find a guy above his head ^_____^
And then there are guys and starts)))
P.s. Please do not be confused with Bokura ga ita, as snot and romance - a different meaning ! ! !
[RUS]
Both are equally as frustrating to watch, this is just a bit more rewarding though.
It's both very cute and lovely. It makes you hyper to watch. It's both about a "difficult" love.
If you liked the highschool romance, and drama, you should enjoy both these animes
Both are love stories, with very likable characters and comedy! Kimi Ni Todoke has more drama, and LoveCom has much more comedy, but they both are precious stories that you won't want to miss.
Both are humorous but get emotional towards the latter part of the series. In both series the main two characters are heavily influenced by the way their peers view them. All around good feeling!
Both feature an extremely awkward love and the protagonists' story as they become closer.
Lovely Complex is similar to Kimi ni Todoke by the genres. They're both amazing anime! Both romance and school life genres. These two anime are like my favorite anime of all time I loved it! They both have opsticals to get the guys they love which keeps it interesting. I'm a sucker for school life romances they are my favorite genres and I love them both. I think if you love Kimi ni Todoke then you will love Lovely Complex! Its a great comedy/romance/school life anime!
Love, so much love!! Both progress very slowly though
Both series are lighthearted and sweet stories of romance, friendship, and trials.
Both series has a similar art style, mood, setting, as well as some slice of life themes.
Both series' romance plot contains trials, misunderstandings, but also forgiveness based on understanding.
Both series also contain emotion occasionally but mixed well with romance, comedy, and drama that defines the young people's lives as students at the time of their puberty.
Romance stories, loveable characters.
They are both just really nice anime if you don't want to watch that much drama.
Misunderstanding between the couples,
Male is popular with the females
Female doesn't really know much about males,
In Lovely Complex the guirl is taller then the guy and in Kimi ni todoke the girl doesn't talk much and is very shy
Both are similar in the highschool romance way, and the main girl cries alot >.>
both of the anime focus on romance between a guy and a girl, both anime portray different circumstances and surroundings, as in lovely complex is a comedy romance filled with laughter and seriousness, while kimi ni todoke, focuses on the romance itself, and the many hardships both animes go through to be with their bf/gf in the end.
both encounter rivals, hardships, drama, as always included in the typical shoujo romances
they both leave a light warm fuzzy feeling when youve completed the anime,
Both anime mostly revolve around love and friendship. In each anime, there are a few times where you might think they would get together or their feelings would finally be understood, but they are both filled with misunderstandings and moments where they could've gotten together, but didn't.
Also, in each anime, there is a boy and a girl that will interfere with their relationship, as well as criticism for the character's differences, whether physical or social.
They both deal with romance and unique relationships. In Lovely Complex, you see the relationship between a very tall girl with a very short boy. In Kimi ni Todoke there is also an awkward relationship between a shy girl and a popular boy. Both female leads also make hilarious expressions! ^o^
This two anime is so similar. Both are related to school-love, and friendship.
They are both slow passed and are about high school romance. Both of the couples are awkward and have weird things but combine them together. (Lovely complex has a huge height deterrence) (Kimi Ni Tokode they have completely different personalities.
These two has been neck and neck on the best romance rankings.......
