Loosely based on the novel 'Romance of the three kingdoms', modern day Japan sees a similar struggle for power between different rival schools with the three strongest being; Kyosho Academy led by Sousou Moutoku, Nanyo Academy by Sonsaku Hakufu and Ryuubi Gentoku from Seito High School. Before reading the review of Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny (DD), please go watch the 1st season first as this is a direct sequel to the story of Ikkitousen.

I have to write this down before I forget again. I always question myself whenever I watch an episode of Ikkitousen. “What happen to the school staffs (you know, teachers, caretakers, principles, etc)?” I don’t ever recall seeing them in any school…let me know if you find them anywhere in the series.

Next up are some useful reference for watching this fan-service heavy anime.

The entire DD basically circle around the two themes above. If you know some background history on read more

Guilty pleasure is truly the only way to explain this awful, yet enjoyable train-wreak of, well, a franchise really. Certainly not a series to watch if you are unable to leave a large portion of moral proprietary at the door. Based on The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, in this instalment, we are introduced to a slew of new characters to add to the old, with a large focus on the students of Seito.

Story - As always, any series in the Ikkitousen franchise always struggles a little with small things like plot. It does have the potential to be interesting, and they certainly do it read more

Both of these anime are similar that to them there is a theme of fighting arts. Accordingly similar technics (liberation of mythical essences, etc.). The main characters in them - girls. At all not having thoroughbred relationship the main characters all equally become the friend for the friend as sisters. And in desire to protect the favourite and dear person, heroines will go on everything even if it will cost it of a life...
If you like Tenjou Tenge, you might like Ikkitousen (especially Dragon Destiny). Now, I know Ikkitousen has been recommanded to death, but Dragon Destiny has way more similarities with Tenjou Tenge and is way more recommandable than the first season: better production quality and they both have stories related to some kind of 'dragon eye'.

If you like Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny, you might like Tenjou Tenge. Same kind of story related to some kind of 'dragon eye' but with a slightly poorer production quality.
