I was very surprised by this series--it looked like a bunch of candy fluff in the beginning and though I thought it was still cute at first I didn't expect this addicted feeling to it that I now have. Like an addiction to chocolate--just can't get enough, and beneath the candy sweet there's a lot more bitterness and plot to it than I ever would have guessed. There's a lot about growing up, the feelings of love and friendship expressed in this series and it still carries a very innocent feel to it. If you are fond of series like Ultramaniac, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Gakuen read more

Sugar Sugar Rune is my favorite Mahou Shoujo anime. Though I generally like the genre, and watch it a lot, I found this anime not only more enjoyable but also deeper then many other anime.

At first I was just in love with the fact the two witches could see the hearts of humans, and I admit, I wish I could do the same. Although the story starts out simple, like they are just playing a game, the story gets deeper, and more serious around half the series. The story is about jealousy, friendship and love. And even though this is common for many mahou shoujo read more

Ahh...Sugar Sugar Rune is probably one of the best anime I have ever watched partly because it is such an enjoyable anime.

I love ALL the characters especially Chocolat and not to mention, the ever so sexy Pierre with his sexy chants (Don't you think he sounds so omfg hot whenever he casts his magic spells?) I thought that the animation and artwork was OUTSTANDING. Seriously, in this anime, I noticed they use less chibi art and express more emotions in the characters faces and that's what I love about it.

I LOVED how deep the story is and how Chocolat seems to think more read more

Part 1 Chunk: (Please forgive me for basically writing an essay. I need to find another hobby.)

What show could fit your mood if you're looking for something simple yet fun? This show. It is nothing more than a children's show, but it is far from being boring. Sure, it can get rather repetitive, but the repetitive parts I found hard to outright hate, actually. I do dislike a certain character who is purely there to create filler, but even she ends up better in the end. If anything, this show stole my heart AND if you think stealing hearts is read more

Anime: Cardcaptor Sakura
These titles are both long running series with primary themes of magic and romance. Following the antics of two young witches living in the human world, Sugar Sugar Rune is perfect for people looking to relive the comedy and mystery of Cardcaptor Sakura. The series is suitable for younger audiences, so don't expect much of a complicated plot. However, each episode brings with it a heart-warming moral and the protagonists, Chocolat and Vanilla, are incredibly endearing characters.

Anime: Ultra Maniac
Both series involve witches from their own magic realm going to the human world, both Aya from Ultramaniac and Chocolat from Sugar Sugar Rune are on some sort of trial to become queen of their realm. Episodes tend to be more episodic with lots of sweet moments, a bit of growing up, and a bit of romance and enough plot or mystery to tie it together and keep up the interest. In the though, I found Sugar Sugar Rune to have a more complex story, better romance, more memorable characters and more inventive witch realm. If you enjoy one of these series, I highly expect  read more

Anime: Little Witch Academia
I'm surprised this recommendation hasn't been made yet, but alas.

The basic thing that makes these anime so alike is the fact that they're both magical girl Anime(Or movie in Little Witch's case) about witches. Although I won't say it's the same, it does resemble each other, as well as it has dissimilarities with each other.

For example:
(Similarity) - The main female character isn't popular at her school.

(Dissimilarity) - Sugar Sugar rune takes place on a school that is meant for humans, while Little witch does take place on a school for witches.

Anime: Puchi Puri Yuushi
Puchi Puri Yuushi/Petite Princess Yucie and Sugar Sugar Rune Similarities:

-Both have a spunky heroine
-Involve magic, and fantasy elements like unicorns, dragons and fairies
-Both about young girls wanting to become royalty, with tests and tasks against other girls (Yucie is actually 17.. but looks like a 10 year old so this is a little different)
-Friends are close and rivals
-In both the characters have to collect magic items to become Princess/Queen, in Yucie they collect fragments of a magical tiara and in Sugar Sugar Rune they collect crystal hearts

Overall they are both cute shows with similar elements, if  read more
