Synopsis

An idol's brilliance illuminates the dreams of humanity. Starlight Academy, a holy ground for celebrities in training, seeks to realize this belief. Behind its rigorous entrance requirements lie not only the top young stars in the entertainment business, but some of the best memories these students will ever have.

Or so Aoi Kiriya believes. Alongside her best friend Ichigo, Aoi decides to apply for the prestigious private school in hopes of living up to the praise of the biggest idol in the world: Mizuki Kanzaki. As they journey through the numerous laughs, friendships, and heartbreaks that await them, can the two girls light up the lives of others as Mizuki has done for them?

Whether it be chopping down Christmas trees, traversing obstacle courses, or even rock climbing, there's always a playful new adventure to be found in the world of Aikatsu!.

Note: This review is for the first season of the show, which is the first 50 episodes and was originally its own entry on MAL. I don't plan to change this review, but when the show finishes, I'll add an extra bit at the end expressing my thoughts on everything else.

When I was first taught about "idols" as a child, we knew them as false gods. Then I started watching anime and I realized it's practically the same thing for Japan.

Aikatsu! follows the idol trend of the past few years. These are shows about cute young girls singing and dancing that look like they're for read more

With Aikatsu’s third season finally spreading its wings, I figured now would be an appropriate time to share my thoughts on the series thus far. The now-bestselling multimedia franchise (already raking in billions of yen per year) may seem intimidating at first glance, but it’s a lot friendlier than it looks.

Starlight Academy is a school built for aspiring idols; a school so influential that it’s dominated by none other than Kanzaki Mizuki, one of the top (and most mysterious) idols in the world. Brave, elegant, and monolithic, she lights up the world around her, inspiring adults and children alike. When Hoshimiya Ichigo’s idol-obsessed friend, Aoi, read more

“My name is Hoshiyama Ichigo. I’m your ordinary first year middle school student. Back then, I would have never imagined that I, me, someone like me could become an idol!”

Story (7/10)
Aikatsu short for Aidoru Katsudou! (Idol Activities) is a collectible card game created by Bandai which revolves around using cards featuring various designer clothes to help aspiring idols make their dreams come true. The story tells of Hoshiyama, Ichigo as she slowly rises to the top with her best friend Kiriya, Aoi and new member of the group *drum rolls* Shibuki, Ran. I know what you’re thinking… “Not another anime about idols.” Which I can read more

This is my first ever review but,I really like Aikatsu and it'smy most favorite anime ever! So, this is all about girls trying to become the top idol and beating the current top idol.
The first episode wasn't that good but when you keep watching it until the last episode you wil enjoy it.
For me this is my rating:
Story: 10
I understand the story even when i just watched episode 1 and 2.The story is like other idol thing when you have to beat someone but this one is really great!
Art: 9
I really love the art but when they like sing and dance it's 3d. read more

Anime: AKB0048
The main characters in Aikatsu and AKB0048 happen to have spunky, cheerful personalities. A friend happens to introduce them to the world of idols and they start on their own journey to become an idol, growing as a person as they do. The styles are different, but the outfits in both series are designed in a nice manner. One of the great things is that both shows vary from the idol genre in ways one wouldn't expect, one being also of the card game genre and the other a sci-fi. The music for both series is also beautiful and the wide cast of characters means  read more
